Titan, a professional email startup secured $30million series A funding from Automattic, the parent company of WordPress. The round valued Titan at $300 million.
Founded in 2018 by Bhavin Turakhia, Titan’s e-mail suite allows businesses to schedule emails, send follow-up reminders, and use templates to quickly send new emails and recurring responses without starting from scratch. Titan is currently only available to users through partnerships with leading web presence providers.
The company currently has over 100K users and expects to reach 1 million in the next year and 5 million in three years. According to Turakhia, most of Titan’s customers are small business owners with teams of 5 to 50 people. As of now, the business isn’t profitable. It will expand its reach and sell its electronic mail (email) suite to Automattic and WordPress’s diverse customer base as a result of the investment.
The startup plans to use the funds raised in this round to improve its products and engineering function and expand its partnerships and go-to-market strategy.
Bhavin Turakhia, founder and CEO of Titan, said, “Email is used by over 1/6th of the global population for work, yet very little innovation has happened in business email over the last two decades”.
He further added, “In Titan, we’ve built a platform specifically designed for professionals and businesses with features that drive their goals – streamlining workflows, automating tasks and making conversations richer and more contextual”.
Matt Mullenweg, Founder and CEO of Automattic, said, “We are excited to make our largest strategic investment to date in Titan, and we are working to integrate it deeply on WordPress.com as a tool to help customers build a professional brand online”.
