A 24-hour hackathon is about to start, during which student teams build a remotely controlled drone or car – from an idea to a working model.
If you are a student of a technical university and have a knack for DIY, SpeedLab is just for you. Organized by the BEST Warsaw Student Association, the event is a 24-hour hardware hackathon, giving participants a clear challenge – to create a drone or a remotely controlled car from concept to a functional model. This is not only an opportunity to show off your skills, but also to win prizes.
They only have 24 hours to create a remotely controlled model
BEST – Board of European Students of Technology – is an international organization bringing together students of technical universities from Europe. BEST also reaches the Vistula River in the form of local branches, including: at the Warsaw University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków and the Gdańsk University of Technology. BEST is behind SpeedLab, an upcoming challenge for specialists in remote-controlled models.
The challenge may seem simple in concept, but in reality it is demanding in implementation. There are 60 participants divided into 12 teams, each of which consists of four to five people. Teams compete in two categories – six of them tackle the design and construction of a remotely controlled car, and another six take on a drone. Everything takes place on-site in Warsaw, and participants have exactly 24 hours to complete it.
However, no one is thrown into the deep end without support, because the teams are accompanied by experts who act as mentors throughout the event. SpeedLab is the first edition of the project, so the organizers focus not only on technical skills, but also on teamwork and coping under time pressure.
The event will take place from June 13 to 14. Remember that The deadline for registration is only until June 1!
