Hornetsecurity has identified the five key factors that will allow MSPs (Managed Service Providers) to work more efficiently. These five priority areas are customer onboarding, proactive monitoring and maintenance, customization, cybersecurity management, and proper supplier management.

MSPs play an essential role in the functioning of companies, especially those that do not have their own IT department. The potential market for an MSP who is capable of working more efficiently is immense and the opportunities are practically unlimited, so meeting these five key factors will be synonymous with success”says Carlos Vieira, general director of Hornetsecurity for Iberia, Italy and Latin America.

  1. Carry out more efficient onboarding. It is crucial to work with both internal and third-party tools to minimize the time required for these tasks, but always balancing it with customer expectations and guaranteeing an excellent experience. Finding this balance can be very beneficial in the long term in the relationship with the client.
  2. Supervision and maintenance. MSPs must rely on proactive maintenance to prevent problems before they occur, as well as have automated monitoring to detect and resolve incidents more quickly. They also need to have well-defined procedures to respond to incidents and successfully execute disaster recovery. However, although automation is an essential tool to be more efficient, it cannot be implemented at the expense of neglecting the human relationship with the customer. An important part of the value that an MSP brings lies in the interaction between the support team and the customer.
  3. Personalization. Personalization and change management are two key elements for MSPs to position themselves in the market and provide true value. By efficiently implementing customized configurations, they can meet the specific needs of their clients, opening the door for them to specialize in specific sectors or in compliance with specific regulations and improving their profitability.
  4. Cybersecurity management. The volume and typology of cyber threats is constantly evolving. IT professionals working with small businesses must take a proactive approach to cybersecurity, leveraging the tools at their disposal to effectively protect their customers’ networks and data. Cybersecurity is not a one-time task, but rather a continuous process that requires constant learning and adaptation, which is why MSPs must have highly qualified teams capable of staying up to date on the latest market trends.
  5. Supplier management. In a rapidly changing business environment, many MSPs have onboarded new vendors without a clear plan or goal. Reviewing these decisions from an efficiency perspective is a crucial task. Simplifying supplier management allows MSPs to focus on more strategic services, strengthen their value proposition, offer strategic advice, align cybersecurity strategies with business objectives and secure a competitive advantage.
