89% of Spanish managers plan to use AI agents in the next 12 to 18 months, according to the new 2025 labor trends index (WTI) prepared by Microsoft. This year, the report focuses on the birth of a new organizational model: the “border company” or Frontier Firma type of organization built around the adoption and use of artificial intelligence as a central axis. In this scenario, Spain stands out for its impulse determined towards this new model, being above the European average in many of the indicators collected in the study.

The elaboration of the WTI is based on a wide survey globally to more than 31,000 professionals in 31 markets -among which Spain is -, as well as in the analysis of billion telemetry data for the use of Microsoft 365 and of the LinkedIn labor and hiring trends. In this edition the vision of native startups of AI, economists, scientists and academics is also incorporated for the first time. This combination offers an updated and deep perspective on how AI and intelligent agents are redefining work in organizations.

Spain, among the countries that are most betting on an AI strategy

88% of Spanish managers believe that 2025 is a key year to redesign the pillars of their strategy and operations. This figure is 11 points above the European average (77%), which positions Spain as one of the most active countries in the structural rethinking of its work model through AI.

This trend reflects a clear will to adapt, but also an ambitious approach towards the integral transformation of organizations. More than superficial adoption, the data indicates an attitude aimed at building companies with new internal dynamics, new profiles and a more fluid relationship between workers and technology.

AI in response to the gap between productivity and capacity

In an environment where efficiency demands grow, 50% of Spanish leaders affirm that productivity should increase. However, 76% of the workforce – directors included – claims not to have enough time or energy to do their job. This tension between aspiration and capacity is leading organizations to seek new growth formulas.

In this context, AI is like the solution to close the gap between productivity and operational capacity. 89% of managers in Spain plan to resort to AI agents – system based on the capable of completing complex tasks – to expand the operational capacity of their templates in the next 12 to 18 months, compared to a European average of 77% or the global of 82%. This data reinforces the commitment of Spanish organizations with the implementation of generative AI as a key tool to accelerate the adoption of tools that complement human talent.

IA agents are already present in Spanish companies

Far from being a future possibility, AI agents are already present in many Spanish companies. 45%of the managers consulted claim to have completely automated business processes or workflows thanks to these systems, above countries such as France (35%) or Netherlands (36%) or Finland (39%).

The main areas in which intelligent agents are being incorporated are customer service, marketing or product development. But beyond the functional area, the common denominator is the search for efficiency, agility and scalability. Agents do not replace worker, on the contrary, they complement their work. They help free human teams from repetitive tasks and allow people to focus on decisions with greater impact.
