The collaboration between cybersecurity teams from Spain and Japan is highlighting a common trend: the growing impact of artificial intelligence on the sophistication of cyberattacks and the persistence of phishing as one of the main threats globally within the field of cybersecurity.

In this context, Ontinet.com, as the exclusive distributor of ESET in Spain and Andorra, and Canon IT Solutions Inc. have developed over the last six months an international technical exchange focused on threat intelligence, SOC operations and incident analysis, with a clear focus on strengthening cybersecurity capabilities. The initiative has made it possible to connect the work of professionals from both countries in an environment in which threats evolve increasingly rapidly and in a coordinated manner, demanding new cybersecurity strategies.

Technical exchange between Ontinet.com and Canon IT Solutions

As part of this program, Ryota Hirooka, professional at Canon IT Solutions Inc. Japan and member of the Technical Verification Department, has temporarily joined the cybersecurity department of Ontinet.com. During his stay, he has worked alongside the Spanish team, which has allowed him to analyze first-hand their incident management processes and their ability to respond to complex threats, in an advanced cybersecurity environment.

Among the main learnings from the experience, Hirooka highlights the agility in detecting and responding to cyber attacks, as well as the importance of internal communication to accelerate decision-making. These elements, he points out, are key in a context in which attacks require increasingly faster and coordinated actions, and where operational cybersecurity takes on an increasingly strategic role.

The exchange has also served to identify similarities in the evolution of threats in different markets. From his knowledge of the Japanese environment, Hirooka emphasizes that the use of artificial intelligence is helping to perfect malicious campaigns that were previously easier to detect. In this scenario, phishing remains one of the most frequent threats in Japan, a trend that finds parallels with Spain, where this type of fraud coexists with other threats such as ransomware, raising the challenges for business cybersecurity.

For Juanan Alcaraz, director of the Cybersecurity department at Ontinet.com, this type of initiative “is framed as an opportunity to strengthen capabilities, review internal processes and add an international perspective to the work of the SOC”, also highlighting Hirooka’s contribution in areas such as the detection of vulnerabilities and the optimization of EDR tools, as well as his methodological rigor and attention to detail.

Optimize the use of detection tools

In addition, joint work has contributed to reviewing internal procedures and optimizing the use of detection and response tools, incorporating new perspectives in areas such as vulnerability identification or incident management, thus reinforcing the global cybersecurity capabilities of both organizations.

“In a context marked by threats that are increasingly automated and difficult to anticipate, experiences like this reflect how cooperation between international teams is consolidated as an essential factor to strengthen cybersecurity and improve the ability to respond to global attacks,” adds Alcaraz.

This type of international collaboration also shows how innovation and knowledge exchange have become pillars for evolving cybersecurity models in the face of increasingly sophisticated threats.
