Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH (Toshiba) has announced the availability of its S300 AI hard drive for video surveillance systems in the retail market. With this initiative, the company provides professional users with access to storage solutions optimized for artificial intelligence (AI) video surveillance workloads through retail and online distribution channels.
The S300 AI hit the market in November 2025 with the aim of responding to the needs of large professional projects. Now, Toshiba expands its acquisition possibilities through retail and online channels, maintaining the enterprise-grade features, performance and reliability required for storage for video surveillance systems.
The Toshiba S300 AI range for retail is aimed at professional video surveillance deployments and aimed at profiles such as system integrators, IT distributors and security installers who implement advanced video analytics solutions. By expanding its availability beyond traditional distribution channels, Toshiba makes it easier for customers to purchase replacement units or smaller quantities through established retail and online distribution channels.
In this way, users can continue to use units specifically designed to support the demanding workloads associated with AI video surveillance, a technology that is increasingly present in professional environments.
Storage ready for AI video surveillance
The S300 AI is designed to support the mixed sequential recording and random access workloads that arise when artificial intelligence software continuously analyzes recorded video. The drive combines capacities between 8TB and 24TB with performance optimized for high-resolution recording and AI-based video surveillance applications.
The hard drive supports up to 64 camera streams, along with an additional 32 streams intended for AI processes. This capacity allows us to meet the needs of demanding video surveillance installations in sectors such as commerce, transportation, industry, smart cities, healthcare, finance and logistics.
AI-based video surveillance is expanding on a large scale
The unit also incorporates features aimed at ensuring the durability necessary in mission-critical environments. With a workload rating of up to 550 TB per year, an MTTF of up to 2.5 million hours, support for multi-bay RAID systems, and a five-year limited warranty, the S300 AI is designed to provide reliable, long-term storage in professional video surveillance systems.
According to Larry Martinez-Palomo, vice president and director of the Storage Products division at Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH, “AI-based video surveillance is expanding on a large scale beyond traditional installations.”
“With the introduction of the S300 AI in retail packaging,” adds Martinez-Palomo, “professional customers can now easily purchase these drives through their preferred channels while continuing to benefit from the trusted performance and reliability that Toshiba video surveillance storage solutions are known for.”
The availability of the Toshiba S300 AI in retail packaging is scheduled for late Q3 or early Q4 2026, expanding access options to specialized storage for video surveillance systems with artificial intelligence.
