The independent analyst firm, PENTEO, announces the budgetary and technological priorities of Spanish organizations for 2025 through the Report “IT Priorities 2025”. It highlights how organizations that prioritize investment in technological solutions will be better able to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks in an economic environment characterized by dynamism and transformation. Looking ahead to the coming months, companies estimate that the technology budget will increase by 10% compared to 2024, which reflects an upward trend underlining the importance of IT in business operation and development.
For 91% of companies, technology has a strategic perception, according to data collected by Penteo, although only 18% will be allocated to strictly innovation due to a focus more focused on the practice of profitability. Organizations continue to focus on technologies that foster operational optimization, sustainability and risk resilience. Artificial Intelligence, advanced automation and cybersecurity have gone from being differentiators to becoming basic requirements for companies seeking to maintain competitiveness in the market.
“Technological investments by 2025 will focus on promoting efficiency and competitiveness, since organizations already assume that innovative technologies, the creation of products and services must respond to emerging needs and the diversification of their market strategies”says Toni Guerra, Director of Penteo. “The combination of a strategic vision and a focus on innovation will position organizations to seize opportunities and overcome present and future challenges..”
Technological Priorities
The main technological items of companies and organizations in our country will be directed to:
- The Artificial intelligence leads (perfectly aligned with business priorities) with 95% of companies increasing investment and only 4% decreasing it, indicating a strong trend towards improving cutting-edge technology.
- The Analytics and big data They also see a significant increase in investment (91% of companies) perhaps based on creating the ecosystem necessary for the implementation of AI.
- The Cybersecurity continues to attract investment year after year, aligned with the company’s objectives of prioritizing security and resilience.
Spanish companies will increase the budget allocated to implementing technological solutions by 10%
Workplace and talent
In the new digital environment, hybrid and remote work have reached maturity, driving innovation with collaborative tools and cloud platforms. For its part, technology aimed at sustainability is gaining ground as part of the response to the demand for greater environmental responsibility and reduction of emissions. Both aspects will continue their dynamics towards 2025.
Regarding talent, companies are prioritizing retention and internal development in the face of the increasing difficulty of finding qualified professionals in some technological areas. Many organizations are choosing to invest in training their current teams, something that allows them to cover project needs internally and reduce outsourcing.
Technology outside the CIO
One fact to highlight in this year’s Report is the one that refers to the budget items allocated to technologies that do not depend on the CIO. 15% of technological projects are controlled by “non-IT” areas, such as marketing and operations, in this way they avoid traditional IT processes and can execute solutions quickly while maintaining competitiveness and agile response to clients.
Another determining factor of this trend is the democratization of technology; Access to tools such as SaaS platforms has allowed non-technical areas to implement specific solutions without depending on direct support from IT.
