Al Kamel Systems, a Spanish technology company specialized in timing, race management and data exploitation in motor competitions, has trusted Synology to manage and protect the data of some of the main international motor championships, such as the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), Formula E, IMSA or Asian Le Mans Series
The company needed an infrastructure to manage large volumes of video, telemetry and documentation, and to respond to this challenge, it has implemented, together with Qloudea, a Synology partner, a data storage and protection ecosystem that connects its headquarters with the different circuits in which it operates.
The main challenge for Al Kamel Systems was to efficiently manage large amounts of video, telemetry and documentation between multiple teams, venues and simultaneous championships. Issues such as duplicate files, insufficient access times, lack of consistency between locations and difficulties in information replication affected the workflow, especially in globally distributed events.
For Al Kamel Systems, having reliable, fast and scalable infrastructure was not a luxury but a critical necessity. A data failure during a race could compromise everything from the race direction to the television broadcast.
Among the main capabilities of the solution are:
- Real-time video management: allows you to view and manage up to 50 video channels simultaneously, monitoring the cameras distributed throughout the circuits and recovering recordings of key moments.
- Data protection and availability: incorporates replication and backup tools to ensure information security.
- Synchronization and collaboration: facilitates the exchange of information between the headquarters and the teams deployed to the different circuits.
Solutions to connect office and circuits in real time
Al Kamel Systems uses Synology VS600HD units to display and manage up to 50 video channels simultaneously. Connected to Synology Surveillance Station, each unit allows Race Direction teams to monitor signals from IP cameras distributed around the circuit in real time and quickly rewind recordings of key moments to obtain critical information during and after events.
Replication, snapshots and automatic copies functions strengthen information protection and recovery
The solution is completed with Snapshot Replication, which automatically creates and replicates snapshots between locations to protect shared folders and LUNs from human error, failure or corruption. Together with DSM’s scheduled copies and collaborative tools, such as Synology Drive, it ensures that projects always remain up to date, consistent and easily recoverable, facilitating more agile work between engineering, audiovisual production, software and career management.
Collaboration between departments, engineering, development, career management and audiovisual production, is now more fluid thanks to the elimination of duplication and the consistency of data in all projects. The replication, snapshots and automatic copies functions reinforce the protection and recovery of information, allowing operational continuity to be maintained even in the event of temporary outages or disconnections.
This infrastructure has made it possible to improve the speed of data access, reduce deployment times and facilitate collaboration between departments, reinforcing operational continuity in an environment in which every second and every piece of data counts.
