Bankinter, in collaboration with Microsoft, will implement the most advanced generative AI for its entire workforce in Spain. The entity has expanded the deployment of Microsoft 365 Copilot in all its central services teams, thus adding to the use that the entire commercial network was already making of the specific AI tool for the company’s CRM, Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales.
In this way, employees in all departments will have the artificial intelligence capabilities provided by Copilot integrated into their daily activity, placing Bankinter at the forefront of the financial sector in Spain in the adoption of AI on a large scale.
As an example of the progress already achieved, the entity records tens of thousands of interactions daily with Microsoft 365 Copilot and works with numerous AI agents. These agents are specialized Artificial Intelligence tools created by the employees themselves that support internal tasks and improve the organization’s productivity.
Bankinter has, on the other hand, been applying generative AI for more than three years through corporate systems and agents in different processes and work flows.
With a multi-technology and multi-partner approach that allows maximizing the innovation potential, dozens of applications and agents already operate transversally in the bank, such as those used in triage of corporate mailboxes, virtual assistants for employees, automatic interpretation of documents, generation of reports, orchestration of complex processes or various utilities for interaction with individual clients and companies through digital channels.
In line with this use of generative AI, the use of Microsoft Copilot enhances efficiency and agility in software engineering processes thanks to the adoption of GitHub Copilot as a lever to improve development practices and accelerate the delivery cycles of its team, starting with more than 800 specialized developers.
Structural and transversal element
Bankinter and Microsoft thus reinforce their collaboration to accelerate the adoption of generative artificial intelligence in the bank, with special focus on the productivity, operational efficiency and growth of the entity that Copilot can contribute.
“At Bankinter we are committed to being at the forefront of innovation and this agreement is part of our strategy, since it allows us to integrate artificial intelligence into the day-to-day life of the entire organization and reinforce the pioneering digitalization model that distinguishes Bankinter. With the global implementation of Copilot we improve the productivity of our teams and promote growth by generating tangible value for the business and for our clients.” said Jacobo Díaz, General Director of the Finance and Digital Banking Area.
For his part, Paco Salcedo, president of Microsoft Spain, has stressed: “At Microsoft we are committed to accompanying organizations like Bankinter in their process of responsible and strategic adoption of AI. This collaboration promotes the deployment of Copilot and the development of AI agents that help automate tasks and optimize processes, so that Bankinter professionals can focus on higher-value activities. All this, in a safe, responsible and scalable environment that contributes to the growth of their business.”

Bankinter’s initiative with Microsoft is part of the “IA First” corporate strategy, which is supervised by the CEO, Gloria Ortiz, and which seeks to place Copilot’s artificial intelligence as a structural and transversal element in the organization, combining the transformation of operational and commercial processes with the promotion of a proactive culture in the use of this technology by all the bank’s professionals.
Security, compliance and training programs
The global deployment of Copilot facilitates the availability of AI tools in a corporate environment for the entire workforce, and is carried out with a maximum commitment approach to security, privacy and regulatory compliance. Bankinter and Microsoft work in a coordinated manner to ensure that its implementation is carried out in accordance with internal standards and the applicable data protection regulations.
The agreement with Microsoft includes, in addition to the use of Copilot, its strategic support in training and change management programs to promote homogeneous adoption and maximize the use of the tools by employees.
