Biedronka opens its first virtual store in Roblox. It is also a great opportunity to check what it’s like to work in the most popular supermarket in Poland.
Roblox is an online platform that allows users to create their own games and play those created by others. Thanks to the tools in Roblox Studio, anyone can design complex worlds and gameplay mechanics. This makes the platform extremely versatile and attractive to both amateur and professional game developers. One of the key elements that have contributed to Roblox’s immense popularity is its community.
The platform works like ecosystemin which players not only compete and cooperate in virtual spaces, but also learn the basics of programming, design and entrepreneurship. Thanks to the freemium model, users can use basic functions for free, and additional items or special capabilities can be purchased for a fee virtual currency — Robux. This solution generates revenue for both creators and the platform itself.
And it’s no wonder that various brands – including those from Poland – see the potential of this platform. A Ladybug simulator has just arrived in Roblox. This is the first such initiative in the company’s history, created entirely in the virtual world. The new game aims not only to show what it’s like to work in the chain’s stores, but also to teach players how to create shopping lists. The creators focused on faithful reproduction of Biedronka stores. In the interactive world, players can play the role of an employee or customer, discovering the secrets of retail trade.
There has never been a store like this before. Biedronka opens up to new experiences
As employees, they will take care of fresh deliveries, arranging goods, maintaining cleanliness and serving customers. They will also have the opportunity to bake bread. Customers will be able to fulfill their shopping lists. In the game, both customers and employees can collect Produkciaki. By collecting virtual mascots, players have a chance to get a code for a sticker that allows them to collect the stuffed animal in real life. The narrator in this virtual space is Apka Biedronka, who conducts tutorials and explains the rules of the game. Game “Are you shopping or working? You decide” is available at the link.
With the launch of the world in the Roblox game, we focus on innovative solutions and activities that engage a younger group of recipients. Thus, we open up new opportunities and act in accordance with current marketing trends. Our Roblox game is not only for entertainment purposes. It’s nothing more than learning through play. We believe that thanks to it, the youngest will more easily learn important skills, such as “smart shopping” or creating a shopping list. Our latest loyalty campaign encourages you to turn shopping into an adventure – an adventure in a virtual store is the next level to which we take our customers.
– says Ewa Wróblewska-Kubiak, Senior Marketing Manager in the Biedronka chain.
Roblox is a hit around the world. Brands see huge potential there
This is not the first such venture, as many large brands see the huge potential of Roblox, although some older readers will find it strange – because let’s face it, does anyone take this platform seriously? Apparently so, because a few months ago IKEA expressed its interest by announcing the launch of “The Co-Worker Game”, which allows young (and not only) players to experience working in a virtual world of furniture with characteristic names. The company also emphasizes that this is the brand’s first step towards mainstream games and, looking at the store’s offer, it is strongly trying to attract players by offering a variety of products – from furniture to accessories.
On the other hand, Roblox is met with a wave of criticism in some countries, where it is perceived as a potential threat to children. A few months ago, we wrote that Türkiye decided to completely cut off access to the game, believing that the content available there “may lead to child abuse.” This despite the opposition of the creators, who ensure that the game has appropriate tools implemented to protect minors and enable parents to view the content that their children receive.
