The growth of digital relationships has simplified everyday processes such as hiring a service, completing a procedure, signing documentation or communicating with a company. At the same time, it has turned identity into one of the critical points to guarantee the security of these operations and confront online fraud.

Coinciding with European Cybersecurity Month, the European Union’s annual campaign aimed at promoting awareness and safer digital practices, Camerfirma focuses on the need to strengthen the mechanisms that allow us to verify who is behind an operation and guarantee the authenticity of digital interactions in the face of online fraud.

The context reinforces this need. The latest Threat Landscape 2026 from the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) places fraud and impersonation in 19% of the economically motivated activities analyzed, only behind ransomware and data breaches.

From protecting systems to also protecting identity

In this scenario, digital security requires going beyond passwords or device protection measures. Being able to verify who is really carrying out an operation, guarantee that a signature corresponds to the appropriate person and that it generates the same legal effect as a handwritten signature with a reliable identity document, or accredit a communication, also becomes an essential part of the cybersecurity strategy.

This evolution coincides with the deployment of a new European digital identity model. The future European Digital Identity Wallet will allow citizens to prove their identity and manage credentials and electronic signatures in an interoperable manner throughout the European Union, reinforcing the role of identity as an essential element of digital relationships.

In this ecosystem, Camerfirma works on solutions that cover different moments of the digital relationship. Among them is Certificate Express, developed by the company to allow remote obtaining of a digital certificate in a maximum of four business hours and using it the same day.

Added to this is GoNotice, its certified communications solution, aimed at providing evidence and traceability to electronic notifications, as well as TOP (Trusted Onboarding Platform), a solution that allows the real identification of people, supported by the National Police Database, and using biometric identification technologies certified by the National Cryptology Center, for qualified onboarding processes.

“In European Cybersecurity Month, it is important to remember that protecting ourselves in the digital environment is no longer just about protecting devices or systems, but also our identity. Fraud evolves at the same pace as technology and the response cannot be based on a single tool; the key is to build processes that we can trust from the initial identification to the signature or final communication. The challenge of the coming years will be to make this security easy for citizens and companies,” says Javier Bustillo, general director of Camerfirma.
