Commvault has announced the launch of Clumio Backtrack for Amazon Dynamodb, an innovative tool that redefines the way organizations retrieve data in one of the most used NOSQL databases in the world.
In a technological ecosystem where speed, scalability and resilience are fundamental, Amazon Dynamodb has become a key piece for Cloud-Firs developers. From electronic commerce and mobile applications, to artificial intelligence -based systems, DynamodB is the basis of many modern architectures. However, its recovery from accidental failures or eliminations has been, so far, an expensive and complex process.
Clumio Backtrack for Dynamodb introduces a new paradigm by allowing almost immediate restoration of data in existing tables without duplication or reconfiguration. This capacity implies a substantial improvement with respect to AWS native solutions, which require restoring complete tables, copying the necessary data manually and eliminating temporal tables, all with high time and resources consumption.
Granular recovery and cost reduction with clumio
Unlike traditional solutions, Clumio Backtrack allows organizations to reverse only the affected partitions, without processing the entire table. This granular approach is especially relevant for environments with large volumes of data: tables with billions of records and multiple partitions in constant update.

“Organizations are building critical applications about Dynamodb, and need a faster and more efficient way to restore their data without compromising their operability,” says Woon Jung, Cto de Cloud Native in Commvault. “With Clumio Backtrack, teams are no longer tied to long and manual processes. Recovery can be done in minutes, precisely and without duplicating efforts.”
Optimization of hybrid cloud resilience
The launch of Clumio Backtrack for Dynamodb is part of the Commvault strategy of strengthening resilience in hybrid and multicloud cloud environments. The solution is designed to integrate with modern development practices, especially those that require operational continuity, such as Devopops, agile development and continuous deployment.
In addition, Clumio Backtrack works under a permanent incremental backup model (“Forever incremental”), which allows to maintain an updated copy of the data without incurring large storage costs. This not only improves recovery times, but also reduces the total property cost (TCO) for companies.
According to Archana Venkatraman, senior director of Data Management Research in the IDC cloud, this solution marks a turning point: “In a context where the data promotes each business decision and errors can cost millions, Clumio Backtrack offers a level of control, speed and efficiency that responds to the demands of the current digital economy.”
Available through AWS Marketplace
Clumio Backtrack for Amazon Dynamodb is now available globally through AWS Marketplace, with a consumer -based pricing model, which offers organizations greater flexibility and predictability of costs.
This launch adds to the previous success of Clumio Backtrack for Amazon S3, consolidating Commvault as one of the most innovative actors in the field of data protection in the native cloud.
With this new offer, Commvault reinforces its commitment to provide powerful and automated tools that allow organizations to maintain their operational continuity, even in the face of the most demanding challenges in the era of artificial intelligence and the distributed cloud.
