Commvault has announced Cloud Unity, the largest release in its history. This is how Sergio López Chicheri, Country Manager Iberia, defined it during a meeting with the press, in which he highlighted that “it is the company’s first platform based on artificial intelligence. As the manager highlighted, it is the evolution of Commvault Cloud that now integrates data security, cyber recovery and identity resilience in a unified solution that covers cloud, SaaS, hybrid and local environments. “Unity arrives as a platform for unified resilience on an enterprise scale to protect customer information and detect vulnerabilities,” he emphasizes.
César Cid de Rivera, Chief Customer Officer EMEA, was in charge of explaining the key points of Unity, explaining that with the arrival of Agentic AI, an unprecedented technological change is taking place. The manager referred to the Gartner report in which it warns that 70% of security breaches before 2027 will occur due to identities. “In fact, nine out of ten attacks target the Active Directory because it allows them to take control of access to data, systems and applications,” says César Cid, pointing out that identity must be the new perimeter to be protected by companies.
Unified data management
Architectures have evolved towards hyperconnected, distributed and autonomous environments, increasing the attack surface, so that traditional security and recovery methods are no longer sufficient for the AI era. Recognizing this, Commvault Cloud Unity introduces innovations powered by artificial intelligence, aimed at integrating security, identity and recovery into a single platform — with a special emphasis on clean, fast and verifiable recoveries after cyber attacks.
With Cloud Unity, backup becomes a great company asset, with monitoring of what happens and Resilience Operations
During the presentation, César Cid highlighted the simplification of operations and the reduction of costs for companies. Under an interface redesign that has been developed based on customer feedback, Commvault’s Cloud Unity platform gives cloud teams a clear view of what is protected and what is not, highlighting the risk of unprotected data. It also provides visibility into the cost advantages of Commvault Cloud compared to other cloud solutions and providers to create, store, manage and recover secure copies of sensitive data.
Synthetic Recovery with AI
“Commvault’s identity resilience is unique in the market, offering the possibility of putting everything back as it was before receiving a cyber attack,” highlights César Cid. The manager has used the term “synthetic recoveries” as another disruptive element of the platform, being able to detect which files are clean for recovery. With Cloud Unity, backup becomes a great asset of the company, with monitoring of what happens, and Resilience Operations, so that the company does not stop its activity at any time.
With Commvault’s Synthetic Recovery offering, the company uses agentic AI to remove compromised data and automatically restore clean data, without manual intervention. It rebuilds the most recent and reliable version without having to go back days or lose valuable data.
Companies can also benefit from TCO analysis by displaying a list of unprotected and protected workloads in the cloud “snapshots,” as well as the projected TCO savings they would realize by protecting those workloads with Cloud Unity. In short, unified data management in more than 160 regions and with 200 Cloud services.
