The company Commvault has announced that it will offer its cyber resilience solution on AWS European Sovereign Cloud, a new independent cloud for Europe that was launched in Brandenburg (Germany) at the end of 2025.
The Commvault Cloud platform, including cyber resilience innovations recently introduced as part of the latest release of the company’s Unity platform, is planned to be available on AWS European Sovereign Cloud, further strengthening Commvault’s growing European customer base.
AWS European Sovereign Cloud is a full-featured sovereign cloud, independently operated and backed by robust technical controls, sovereign guarantees and legal protections designed to meet the needs of European governments and businesses.
The AWS European Sovereign Cloud infrastructure is located entirely within the EU and is operated independently of existing regions. Only AWS employees residing in the EU can control the daily operations, including data center access, technical support, and customer service of the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
As with existing AWS Regions, customers will have control and assurance that AWS services will not access or use customer data for any purpose without their consent, as well as access to the strictest sovereignty controls among major cloud providers.
Optimized resilience
Commvault Cloud on AWS European Sovereign Cloud plans to provide European organizations with a secure solution designed specifically for cloud environments, based on a cyber resilience strategy optimized for cost and scalability for AWS customers. The Commvault platform offers the ease of use of a turnkey SaaS solution with AI-enabled discovery, classification and protection policy recommendations, strengthening the cyber resilience of workloads and helping to simplify the onboarding and protection of resources across all accounts within Sovereign Cloud.
It also provides extensive cyber resilience capabilities, incorporating physically isolated backup, integrated and AI-enhanced threat detection and response, and cleanroom recovery orchestration that allows customers to securely analyze threats, test processes, or perform restore operations to reduce the risk of reinfection. These features support data resilience and operational recovery imperatives increasingly mandated by regulations such as GDPR, DORA, and NIS2.
“Customers across Europe are under enormous pressure to meet sovereignty requirements while defending against growing cyber threats,” said Darren Thomson, technical director of security, EMEAI, Commvault. “As an AWS European Sovereign Cloud partner, we plan to deliver cyber resilience by bringing Commvault’s strongest protection and recovery capabilities to the organizations that need it most.”
Data protection
This announcement builds on recent milestones in Commvault’s long-standing collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including earning the AWS Resiliency Competency in the recovery category and being named AWS Global Storage Partner of the Year 2025, with a clear focus on cyber resilience.

These recognitions underscore Commvault’s leadership in cloud-native data protection and its commitment to helping organizations address evolving digital sovereignty and resiliency needs with reliable, enterprise-grade technology, aligned to the highest cyber resilience standards, on AWS.
The new Commvault Cloud solution will be available on the AWS European sovereign cloud throughout the first half of calendar year 2026. Pricing will be finalized prior to general availability and will reflect AWS’s unique model for SaaS infrastructure and compute within the sovereign cloud environment.
