The international engineering, architecture and construction company Grupotec has virtualized its workplaces with the help of UDS Corporate, adopting Virtual Cable’s digital workplace solution. Thanks to this new workplace model, your engineers, architects, drafters and BIM modelers access your digital design and construction tools with greater flexibility and security, while optimizing IT management and reducing operating costs.
The company had numerous technical profiles that depended on high-performance physical workstations, which meant that each job was linked to a specific piece of equipment. This model limited mobility and made it difficult to access the workplace from different settings, including construction sites and other distributed locations. To move towards a more agile model, they needed to decouple the workplace from the physical device without compromising performance.
After evaluating different alternatives, they opted for UDS Corporate due to its technological independence and ease of integration with their existing infrastructure. The solution was deployed by Fsas Technologies and Vodafone on an on-premise platform designed to support demanding workloads, especially in advanced technical design environments, guaranteeing the performance of the virtualized workplace.
“UDS Corporate allows us to offer our technical teams a flexible workplace, accessible from anywhere and with the necessary CPU, RAM and graphics resources for BIM/CAD. We have gained control, operational efficiency and scalability without depending on a specific manufacturer,” says Óscar Cervera, Systems Director at Grupotec.
“This project demonstrates that it is possible to virtualize demanding technical environments without affecting performance. With UDS Corporate, Grupotec has managed to decouple the workplace from the hardware, improve the mobility of its equipment and optimize the management of its IT infrastructure with a centralized and secure system,” highlights Javier González, technical director of Virtual Cable.
Optimization of times and processes
Virtual desktops ensure a fluid and stable workplace experience from any device. The project has improved the user experience, reduced incidents associated with hardware and optimized operating costs. Specifically, it has achieved a reduction in the renewal of physical equipment of up to 30%, as well as an improvement in provisioning, user management and job recovery times, which are now carried out 50% faster.
In addition, the centralization of the workstation has reinforced the security and control of the platform. This makes it easier for the IT team to manage access, configurations and data with greater traceability, from a single console and with a unified view of the workplace.

This project positions Grupotec as a benchmark in the adoption of digital work models in the engineering sector, demonstrating that the workplace can evolve towards a more flexible, safe and efficient environment. It also highlights that it is possible to virtualize high-performance technical jobs, traditionally linked to physical stations, without giving up productivity or quality of service.
