Don’t you want the whole Facebook to throw yourself with likes and comments on your new profile photo? Check our guide – it can be done without announcing the news to the whole world.

How to change a profile photo on Facebook without likes and comments?

Changing a profile photo on Facebook is like a trifle, but it can cause an avalanche of notifications, likes and comments, which … sometimes we just don’t want to. Sometimes we upload a new photo without much commitment – because it is more current, because it required a change of work, because we had a whim. However, Facebook can often make the event of the year out of this, because the photo is displayed on the board as a post. Fortunately, you can do it – without notifications, without hearts from your aunt and without questions “where was it done?”.

Why does Facebook show a change of profile photo?

Facebook treats a profile photo as something important. After all, it represents us in the comments, messages and even on Messenger. Therefore, when we change them, the algorithm automatically publishes them in the form of a post that goes to the news of friends. The problem is that we don’t always feel like it. We often just want to refresh our profile without making this great event. Here’s what you can do to maintain more discretion that “something has changed”.

Method No. 1 – change of privacy settings after uploading a photo

If you have already uploaded a new photo and saw (-As) that Facebook made a post out of it-calmly, it can still be silenced. Here’s how:

  1. Go to your profile and find a post informing about changing the photo.
  2. Click three dots in the upper right corner of the post.
  3. Choose “Edit privacy”.
  4. Change visibility to “Only me”.

Thanks to this, the post will disappear from the posts. For a moment he could display someone, but if you react quickly, most of your friends will not notice the change.

Method No. 2 – Add a photo without creating a post

Do you want to add a profile photo immediately so that nobody can see it? This is also a way. However, we do not do it by “change the profile photo” – because then Facebook automatically creates a post. Instead:

  1. Go to your profile.
  2. Click PhotosAlbumsProfile photos.
  3. Click Add a photo and upload a new file.
  4. Set the visibility of the photo on “Only me” – Before you publish anything.
  5. After saving, return to the photo, click Set as a profile photo.

The photo is changing, but no one gets a notification or sees a post in news.

Method No. 3 – by the mobile application

If you add photos from the phone, the path looks a little different, but the effect will be the same.

  • Open the Facebook application.
  • Go to your profile and click the profile photo.
  • Choose See profile photoView on the full screen.
  • Click three dots and choose Set as a profile photo.
  • Before approving, pay attention to the visibility option. Click the globe/people icon and set “Only me”.

Thanks to this you will avoid publishing a post. The photo will change, but the information will not appear in the fede of your friends.

What else is worth knowing?

  • It is impossible to completely turn off such posts permanently – Facebook does not offer “Never publish information on changing a profile photo” option. So you have to act consciously every time.
  • Old profile photos are public -Even if you haven’t made a (-iaś) post, they can be visible. It is worth reviewing your album and manually put privacy.
  • The profile photo is always publicly visible – Everyone will see them if they enter your profile. But the post about its change does not have to be public anymore.

Why is it worth hiding such changes?

Because not every change must be an advertisement immediately. Sometimes we just want to refresh our image without a crowd of questions and reactions or we test whether a given photo looks good on the profile at all. Changing the main photo without informing the entire Facebook is possible and very simple – all you have to do is set the privacy well. If you do not want each click to end in a series of likes and questions, use one of the ways described.
