This is especially true on Instagram, where first impressions are often crucial. If you notice that your photo carousel needs improvement, Instagram will allow you to edit albums from November 2021. This means you can change the order of the photos in the carousel. Unfortunately, this option is not available as a separate feature, but there is a way to use this solution.

Preparing to change the order of photos in the carousel
The first thing you need to know is that this method only works if your post contains more than two photos. You will need to delete the photos you want to rearrange and then restore them in the order you want. This process may seem complicated, but don’t worry – no photo will be lost forever – the method has been tested… 😉
How to change the order of photos in the Instagram carousel?
Step 1: Go to Instagram
Open the Instagram app on your mobile device and log in to your account if you haven’t already.
Step 2: Find the post you want to edit
Go to your profile and find the photo carousel you want to reorder. This can be any post with more than two photos.
Step 3: Tap the three dots icon
After selecting a post, tap the three dots icon located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 4: Select “Edit”
From the menu that appears, select “Edit”. This will open the post edit screen where you can make some changes such as deleting photos.
Step 5: Go to the photo you want to delete
Swipe through the photos in the carousel until you find the one you want to remove from the album. Make sure the order of the photos you leave follows your plan – for example, keep the first photo in place if you want it to stay at the top.
Step 6: Tap the trash icon
Once you have selected the photo you want to delete, tap the trash icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
Step 7: Select “Delete”
After tapping the trash icon, Instagram will ask you if you’re sure you want to delete the photo. Select “Delete” to temporarily remove the photo from the carousel.
Step 8: Repeat the process for all the photos you want to reorganize
This way, delete any photos you want to re-add in a different order, leaving at least two photos in the carousel.
Step 9: Finish editing
Once you’ve removed the photos you want to move, tap “Done” in the upper right corner of the screen to finish editing your post.
Adding photos to an Instagram post in a new order
Now that you’ve removed the photos you want to rearrange, it’s time to add them back in the correct order.
Step 1: Go to profile
Return to your Instagram profile.
Step 2: Enter settings
Tap the three lines icon at the top right of the screen to open the menu, then select “Settings.”
Step 3: Select “Manage Deleted Items”
In settings, find “Your activity”.
Step 4: Select the photo you want to add first
Step 5: Restore photo
Tap the three dots icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select “Restore”. Repeat the restore step for each photo you want to add back to the carousel.
Step 6: Repeat the process
Restore photos in the order you choose until the entire carousel looks the way you want. Remember to restore the photos one by one, according to the layout you want to achieve.
