Panasonic Connect, in collaboration with Intel and Hive, has introduced a revolutionary solution based on decentralized architecture. This technological advance transforms the creation, management and experimentation of audiovisual content in sectors such as entertainment, art and education.

The new decentralized architecture, powered by the Intel Smart Display Module (SDM), offers a modular approach that optimizes infrastructure and significantly reduces operational, energy and logistics costs. With the integration of BeeBlade, Hive’s multimedia engine, and Panasonic’s advanced projection technology, this solution offers an efficient, sustainable and easy-to-deploy platform that can be used in both fixed installations and international tours.

The new decentralized architecture not only optimizes the technical quality of immersive experiences, but also represents a more sustainable and efficient solution. The lower energy consumption of the devices and the reduction in the need for transportation and wiring reduce the environmental impact, aligning with global sustainability commitments. As Hartmut Kulessa, European Marketing Director of Panasonic Connect, pointed out, “with this solution, we are marking a before and after in the immersive entertainment industry, offering a technology that not only improves the audience experience, but also responds to the environmental challenges”.

A revolutionary approach to immersive entertainment

Traditionally, immersive experiences have relied on a centralized architecture, where all key components are grouped together in a main technical room. This approach has been effective in fixed installations, but presents great challenges in traveling environments, such as touring entertainment. These require large volumes of wiring, complex installations and expensive transportation, which limits the flexibility and scalability of productions.

Faced with this challenge, Panasonic, Intel and Hive have joined forces to develop an architecture that distributes content processing directly through projectors or screens, eliminating the need for a central technical room. This innovative solution reduces both the complexity and volume of equipment, facilitating the transportation, assembly and configuration of events, allowing tours to be more agile and efficient.

Key Components and Benefits of Decentralized Architecture

The Intel SDM offers high graphics performance, supporting resolutions up to 8K HDR and advanced technologies such as 5G and Wi-Fi 6E. The technology company’s projectors and displays, equipped with Intel SDM slots, allow multimedia servers to be easily integrated. Hive’s BeeBlade, integrated into the projectors, eliminates the need for a centralized control room, reducing cabling and ensuring precise content synchronization.

With these elements, the decentralized architecture offers key advantages such as cost reduction, with savings of up to 30-40% by eliminating servers and centralized control systems. Its modular design improves flexibility and scalability, facilitating expansion without large investments. In addition, it reduces energy consumption and carbon footprint and simplifies facility maintenance, prolonging the useful life of equipment without the need for costly replacements.

Success stories: Decentralized architecture in action

The decentralized architecture is already being successfully implemented in various facilities, such as the BBC Earth Experience in Melbourne, where the technology has facilitated precise synchronization of content in a 360-degree installation with more than 127 million pixels.

At the “The Sistine Chapel Heritage” exhibition in Warsaw, decentralized technology has made it possible to recreate the Sistine Chapel in the city’s National Stadium. These examples highlight how decentralized architecture not only improves the user experience, but also optimizes logistics and energy expenditure at large-scale events. In both cases, the solution based on Panasonic projectors with Intel SDM and the BeeBlade multimedia engine Hive has allowed us to create high-quality immersive experiences
