KrakenD, the API Gateway, has achieved €1.1 million in revenue in the first half of 2024, with profits of over €730,000, 137% more than the same period last year.
Organizations such as the US Navy, Indra, Deutsche Bahn, SUPO (Finnish Security and Intelligence Agency), as well as large global companies in sectors such as defense, fintech, telecommunications, entertainment, healthcare, and manufacturing, some of which are Fortune 500, trust KrakenD to manage their internal servers and APIs. The company has more than 2 million servers globally spread across more than 21 countries in North America, Europe, Australia, India, and Brazil.
Following the launch of its Enterprise edition, KrakenD has already surpassed the 60 international clients barrier and achieved a 93% increase in sales, with profits exceeding €730,000.
“Our open-source solution launched in 2016 opened the doors to the creation of the company in 2021, which has brought us consolidated growth so far, without the need for external financing,” says Albert Lombarte, CEO of KrakenD. “Our clients appreciate dealing with people who understand their problems at a deep level in terms of technical aspects. What some might consider a risk – a team made up of 100% technical profiles – ultimately turned out to be our greatest strength.”
The “100% made in Spain” solution for sectors critical to data privacy
KrakenD provides the necessary support in highly regulated industries with strict privacy and data handling requirements, as it operates independently within the client’s infrastructure, without the need for third parties or data transfers outside the company’s network.
This makes it the ideal API Gateway for sectors with complex service platforms, where they handle a large volume of sensitive data and need to adapt the architecture and fabric of the digital structure in a flexible manner, thus facilitating integration into different media and updating the digital ecosystem.
KrakenD provides the necessary support in industries with high regulation and strict privacy and data management requirements.
A concrete example in the ecommerce sector is KrakenD’s ability to integrate the different APIs or complex services that usually make up an online store, such as warehouse, catalogs, payments, orders and users, through a single interface. This integration allows for real-time synchronization of stock availability and other critical data, ensuring that information is instantly updated on the website. Thanks to this KrakenD feature, management and consumption from mobile and web applications are simplified, improving operational efficiency and providing a faster, smoother and safer user experience.
Consolidating its expansion: objective to close 2024
This year, KrakenD is looking to consolidate its global network of distributors and integration partners around the world and maintain an improvement model based on customer feedback, prioritizing high-impact innovations to keep its product at the forefront of the market. In this way, KrakenD expects to close 2024 with a turnover of over 2 million euros.
“We currently have partners in the United States, Brazil, South Africa, Turkey, Malaysia, India, and Korea, who assist us in expanding our customer base and offer local support, as well as development and implementation services to companies that need it, something we will continue to expand in 2024,” says Albert García, Business Director at KrakenD. “This allows us to have a presence in different regions of the world and adapt to the specific needs of each market, guaranteeing quality service and personalized attention to our customers at all times.”
