According to a Gartner study, 63% of organizations do not know if their data management practices are suitable for AI or do not have them at all. Although unique customer data represents the differentiation that drives competitive advantage and more accurate results, according to an IDC report, over the past five years 80% of storage capacity has been deployed using hard drive-based systems that have not been optimized for AI.

At the same time, customers are facing new demands for virtualization and containerization that require open solutions. Companies should mitigate this risk by ensuring their enterprise data systems and practices are modernized for advanced use cases.

Against this backdrop, Lenovo has announced a broad range of new virtualization solutions and data storage and management services designed to help customers modernize their IT infrastructure to drive AI-ready business applications and capabilities.

The new range unveiled includes Lenovo ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile data storage solutions and virtualization solutions, announced alongside data management services. This announcement presents an offering of complementary hardware, software and services to help deploy, manage and harness the true potential of enterprise data in large and mid-sized companies seeking to innovate through AI.

“Given the revolution in enterprise virtualization strategies and the need to prepare data for the most demanding workloads, organizations are looking to modernize their legacy infrastructures through open solutions,” explained Stuart McRae, executive director and general manager of data storage at Lenovo. “These new offerings provide the security, flexibility and performance needed to optimize applications and enable businesses to extract maximum value from their data.”

Flexibility and variety of options

Today’s businesses require the efficiency and cyber resilience of their systems to go hand in hand with performance, simplicity and scalability, as well as the option to deploy on-premise and hybrid systems so that data resides in the right place and meets regulatory obligations, while AI workloads run in the most appropriate location.

Lenovo has introduced new Lenovo ThinkSystem and Lenovo ThinkAgile Enterprise enterprise offerings, optimized for AI and aimed at solving virtualization and storage bottlenecks, including:

• Lenovo ThinkSystem DS Series Storage Arrays: Protected block storage systems for SAN (Storage Area Network) networks in flash format that are very easy to deploy and manage in virtualized environments, improving performance and efficiency for data virtualization and modernization.

• Lenovo ThinkAgile FX Series: hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) that offers an open architecture to facilitate seamless conversion between selected HCI solutions without the need to replace hardware, providing maximum flexibility and investment protection.

• Lenovo ThinkAgile MX Series: for disaggregated storage for Microsoft Azure Local: As a provider of integrated hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) appliances alongside Microsoft, Lenovo is expanding support for external and disaggregated Fiber Channel SAN networks, to offer greater enterprise storage support to customers seeking advanced virtualization solutions.

Lenovo ThinkAgile MX Series with NVIDIA RTX Pro 6000: Integrated support for the next generation of GPUs that drives advanced AI performance capabilities for enterprise inference with Microsoft Azure Local.

• Lenovo ThinkAgile HX Series for AI: Lenovo’s HCI offering includes the Nutanix Enterprise AI (NAI) software suite to enable customers maintaining distributed virtualized and containerized environments to deploy, run and scale AI models in minutes.
