Telefónica Empresas has improved its Movistar Intranet service by incorporating the Network Slicing capability. With this update, Telefónica becomes the first operator in Spain to offer high-quality end-to-end private mobile connectivity. This allows companies and public entities to access their corporate networks securely and on the move, without having to be connected to the office’s fixed network.
The service not only facilitates the interconnection between users and devices with 5G mobile connectivity through the Movistar network, but also allows the creation of secure private networks (VPN) for mobile devices. This is especially useful in high demand situations or when communications need to be optimized with new technologies that require greater mobility or lower latency.
Telefónica’s 5G Stand Alone network offers higher speeds, the ability to connect more devices, lower latencies and network slicing functionality. This capability is ideal for use cases such as teleworking in congested environments, managing connected vehicle fleets, and ATM connectivity at mass events.
Adrián García Nevado, Director of Companies at Telefónica Spain, highlights that we are in an era of continuous mobilization of connected consumers and employees, which requires access to networks and data protection constantly and simultaneously. “At the company level, the improvement of production environments thanks to new connectivity technologies is allowing the elimination of wiring in factories and making decisions in real time based on different parameters. All of this accelerates the demand for private mobile networks with new alternatives that until now were not possible.”
Network Slicing 5G
Movistar Intranet is an economical solution that does not require additional deployments and that integrates mobile devices into the corporate network, facilitating secure traffic through Telefónica’s mobile network. Network slicing functionality optimizes resource use and improves the user experience in high-demand situations.
The company incorporates this functionality into its Movistar Intranet service, offering secure, high-performance coverage for corporate mobile devices, even when there are network congestion problems.
Currently, 800 clients have contracted two million lines with the Movistar Intranet service. Network Slicing, supported by Telefónica’s 5G, already covers 89% of the country and ensures high-performance connectivity. This technology is essential for sectors such as digital health, industry 4.0 and connected vehicles.
Telefónica has been a pioneer in the development of this functionality, carrying out important pilot projects, such as the first global broadcast with 5G drones and the implementation of the first hotel in Europe with 5G SA connectivity and Network Slicing over a public network.
Availability
Movistar Intranet with Network Slicing will be available from October 31.
