Huawei doesn’t have an easy life with the limitations it has to deal with, but it still wants to deliver innovative solutions that the world’s biggest brands would be proud of. The new Matebooks and MatePad tablet make a very good first impression.

Huawei Matebook X Pro 2024

Huawei is probably one of the few Chinese companies that has been trying to set new standards for many years, rather than copying from others. The development of this company has been somewhat slowed down by American sanctions, but this does not prevent it from continuing to create innovative products. And it must be admitted that this year’s Matebook X Pro has nothing to be ashamed of compared to its competitors. This small computer equipped with a 14.2-inch OLED screen can be equipped with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor with a TDP of 40 W, and all this while weighing less than 1 kg. Huawei has made huge progress in this series over the past few years, which is visible to the naked eye.

When I tested one of the first Matebook X Pros, then still with passive cooling, I had a lot of complaints about it, especially because of the performance, which was severely limited by temperature. Since then, Huawei has improved many things, including the cooling system, which now easily copes with the most efficient Intel processor designed for this type of computer. It also does it in a very polite way, although I will write more about this soon in the full review. In addition to the new CPU, the computer can be equipped with 16/32 GB of RAM, up to 2 TB hard drive and has a 70 Wh battery. Huawei also provides connectivity in the WiFi 6E (6 GHz) standard, and thanks to innovative antennas, a much greater range.

What is most impressive, however, is the weight of this computer. Huawei fought for literally every gram, thanks to which it managed to get down to 980 g. The laptop is light, but despite this, very stiff and gives the impression of being solid. The use of an innovative magnesium alloy also gives a pleasant to the touch matte surface that does not collect fingerprints. The OLED screen used here is a flexible display, similar to those used in smartphones. Thanks to this, it offers great brightness, ideal viewing angles, full coverage of popular color palettes, 120 Hz refresh and a touch layer. It is also worth noting that Huawei has fit as many as 6 speakers in this small housing, which play very pleasantly, and the battery can be charged with a power of up to 90 W, which allows you to quickly replenish energy.

The Matebook X Pro 2024 has just gone up for pre-sale, in which it is available in two versions, with a Core Ultra 7 155H processor and 16 GB of RAM for PLN 8,499 and with a Core Ultra 9 185H system and 32 GB of RAM for PLN 10,999. By pre-ordering this first computer, you can save PLN 500 and gain a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Huawei Matebook 14 (2024)

Huawei Matebook 14 for 2024 is also quite a big step forward in terms of specifications and a model only slightly worse than the top X Pro. Here we also have a slim casing in two original colours (green and grey), which weighs just over 1.3 kg. Inside, however, there is, among other things, a place for an OLED matrix with a diagonal of 14.2 inches and a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a brightness of 450 nits. What’s more, here we also have a touchscreen with stylus support and excellent coverage of popular colour spaces.

Matebook 14 has nothing to be ashamed of in terms of specifications. We have an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H or Core Ultra 5 125 H processor, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB or 1 TB SSD drive. In addition, there is a 70 Wh battery, fast charging, WiFi 6 and a 1080p camera. The manufacturer promises that in a normal use scenario, the computer will easily last 7 hours of work, and when playing video even 19 hours, thanks to the use of Low Power cores in Core Ultra processors. The undoubted advantage of this model will also be the price, the weaker version with Core Ultra 5 125H, 16 GB RAM and a 512 GB drive costs PLN 3,999 in pre-sale, and for Core Ultra 7 155H, 16 GB RAM and a 1 TB drive you will have to pay PLN 4,999. In both cases, the price is PLN 500 lower than the suggested price, and the promotion will last until the end of June.

Huawei MatePad 11.5′ S

The last product to premiere today is the Huawei MatePad 11.5′ S tablet with a matte PaperMatte display, which works perfectly even in full sunlight. Thanks to the use of a special layer on the 11.5-inch screen with a resolution of 2800 x 1840 pixels, using this device in all conditions is to be equally pleasant. What’s more, the screen has a refresh rate of 144 Hz and can dynamically change it from 30 to 140 Hz. The tablet is of course based on the Harmony OS (4.2) system and uses the Kirin 9000WL processor equipped with 8 cores. On board we will also find 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB for data, as well as support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

The tablet weighs just over 500 g and is equipped with two cameras, a front camera with a resolution of 8 Mpix and a rear camera – 13 Mpix, as well as a battery with a capacity of 8800 mAh with the possibility of charging at a power of up to 22.5 W. MatePad 11.5′ S will be available in a set with a magnetic keyboard, the cost of which is PLN 300, as well as with an additional stylus. During the pre-sale period, i.e. from today until July 7, the tablet in a set with a stylus will be available for PLN 1699. If you also want an additional keyboard, the price increases to PLN 1999.
