OVHcloud has been ensuring the effective protection of companies and individual users against denial of service attacks for years. However, users are rarely aware of the results that these security mechanisms offer, therefore, with the aim of providing greater support and visibility to the security teams that work together with the company, OVHcloud has launched its new Network Security Dashboardan interactive dashboard that provides clear and powerful insight into the history of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
This dashboard not only complements OVHcloud’s advanced security solutions, which protect organizations around the world, but also allows you to see what is happening “behind the scenes” in the company’s network infrastructure. With more than 450,000 servers in 43 data centers distributed across 4 continents, 44 points of presence (POP) and a global network capacity of 100 Tb/s, OVHcloud continues to strengthen its proposal, offering a secure and efficient infrastructure for companies that They want to operate with complete confidence.
OVHcloud Network Security Dashboard
The launch of this panel becomes even more relevant in a context where cyberattacks have increased, not only in number, but also in sophistication. According to a recent report from the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, cybercrimes grew by 26% in 2023 compared to the previous year.
Additionally, there has been a notable increase in high-packet rate DDoS attacks, which pose a considerable challenge to security systems, as managing large numbers of small packets is more complex than dealing with larger packets. OVHcloud was the victim of such a massive attack two years ago, which it successfully mitigated, and currently handles hundreds of similar incidents each week, as highlighted in a recent company post.
OVHcloud launches Network Security Dashboard to provide a clearer view of DDoS attack history
The new dashboard, available at no additional cost to all OVHcloud customers, provides graphical representations on the number and type of attacks mitigated in the last two weeks, with historical data storage of up to one year. This global service has been developed with the collaboration of the OVHcloud customer community, who provided suggestions to improve its user interface.
He Network Security Dashboard It is adaptable to multiple applications and is available for all public IP addresses, such as those associated with the public cloud, dedicated servers, VPS or private vRack networks. The protection operates regardless of traffic volume and is not subject to time limitations. Thanks to OVHcloud’s network capabilities, attacks can be intercepted and neutralized at the edge of the network, preventing them from reaching servers. Additionally, advanced inspection features prevent legitimate packet loss during an attack.
Among the security systems that complement this new panel, the following stand out:
- Hardware Client Amplitude Policer (HCAP): implemented at points of presence (POP), it allows managing traffic flow in critical situations.
- Scrubbing Center– A set of OVHcloud technologies designed to filter traffic and prevent DDoS attacks. This system includes:
- Edge Network Firewall– Located inside data centers, detects and blocks suspicious traffic.
- Shield and Armor: systems designed to prevent servers from being overloaded, using advanced techniques to counter different types of attacks.
He Network Security Dashboard It is available to all OVHcloud customers through their user area, and although at the moment it is only compatible with IPv4 addresses, it will soon be enabled for IPv6.
