The Project Management Institute (PMI) has unveiled a series of innovative tools during the keynote address by its president and CEO, Pierre Le Manh, PMP, at the PMI Global Summit 2024, held in Los Angeles.
To continue supporting project professionals in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their skills, PMI announced the acquisition of Cognilytica, a company specializing in research, training and certification in AI, machine learning (ML), automation, data and analytics.
With this acquisition, the company will incorporate Cognilytica’s certifications and training programs into its platform, providing its members with access to advanced content, research, consulting, training, as well as the popular AI Today podcast, among other resources.
During the Global Summit 2024, PMI presented its latest innovations in AI for project management, reaffirming its leadership in advanced technology
“The future of project management is here, and now at PMI’s Global Summit in Los Angeles this week,” said Pierre Le Manh, CEO of PMI. “Project professionals turn to us for cutting-edge tools and techniques to lead transformation in their organizations, industries, and careers. I’m thrilled to introduce an update to Infinity, the most innovative and comprehensive GenAI platform for project managers, and to welcome Cognilytica’s expertise to the PMI family as together we look to lead the AI-powered transformation of project management.”
Recent study: Project managers’ use of generative AI is increasing
In its most recent report, titled “Pushing the Limits: Transforming Project Management with GenAI Innovation,” the company highlights significant growth in the use of generative AI within project management. Since January 2024, the number of advanced users (those who employ generative AI in more than 50% of their projects) has grown by 86%. Today, approximately two in five project managers use this technology in most of their tasks.
This study shows that the implementation of AI, especially generative AI, has substantially improved critical areas such as planning, budget control, quality, productivity and creativity in project management. “We are just beginning to see how generative AI will transform both project management and organizations,” said Lysan Drabon, Managing Director of PMI Europe. “While some technical improvements were foreseeable, the impact on creativity and collaboration has been especially notable.”
