How much does one cartridge for sodastream really cost? We check the prices of new cylinders, replacement options and differences between models. Here’s everything you need to know about CO2 costs used in water saturators.
How much does one cartridge for sodastream cost?
It looks inconspicuous from the outside, but he is responsible for all bubbles. The carbon dioxide cartridge is the heart of every sodastream saturator. However, it should be remembered that, sooner or later, its content ends. Then the question arises: how much does a new cylinder cost? Is it better to buy another or replace the old one? And what about these pink and blue bottles – is it just a matter of color or something more? We checked.
New cylinder – how much will you pay to start?
If you are just starting your adventure with Sodastream or you want to have an additional spare cylinder, you need to prepare for the purchase of a new cartridge. And here the discrepancies begin – because prices depend on the model.
Variant Quick Connect (or pink cylinder) you will pay OK. PLN 100-120. In turn, a classic cylinder in the system Twist (i.e. blue) is already an expense of the order PLN 120-140. The difference does not result from the gas itself (in both there are 425 g CO2), but from the method of assembly. Quick Connect is a standard used in newer devices, but – interestingly – it is cheaper.
Replacement of the cartridge in Sodastream – the most profitable option
Instead of buying a new cylinder for the full amount, you can simply replace empty with full. It’s a kind of recycling in practice – you give your cartridge and pay only for gas.

Where to replace the sodastream cartridge?
You have two options: stationary or online. In stationary stores (Carrefour, Media Markt, E.Leclerc, Media Expert and others) you leave an empty cylinder and immediately pick up the filled. This is the most convenient option if you are shopping. You also don’t have to think about delivery costs.
As I wrote earlier, online replacement works equally efficiently – you order a full cylinder, the courier supplies it to the door, and you in the same carton send off the empty. A returnable label is attached to the package, so you don’t pay anything. On the plus side there is no need to go to the store, but you need to watch the date of return.
How many liters of water will we get from one cartridge?
Each cylinder – regardless of the color – contains 425 grams of CO2which allows you to prepare up to 60 liters of drink. In practice, if you like water with a strong bubble, number rather 45-50 liters. Even with this more realistic value, the cost of a liter of sparkling water from the exchange is only about 80-90 groszy.
New cylinder vs. Replacement – what is more profitable?
There is no doubt here – replacement for PLN 39.99 This is the cheapest and most convenient way to use the saturator regularly. When buying a new cartridge, you overpay – unless you are just starting and you need additional cylinders to always have a supply at home or replace them “wholesale”. In any other case, it is more profitable to return the empty cartridge and pay only for gas.
What about substitutes?
Replacements are available on the market, sometimes much cheaper. There are also unofficial filling points. However, you have to remember about some risk. First of all – you have no guarantee that CO2 in such a cartridge is high -quality food. Secondly – a non -original cylinder can damage the saturator, and then we can forget about the warranty. Some substitutes also require adapters or non -fabric solutions, which can simply be dangerous. If you care about peace and full safety – it is worth sticking to the originals, as the manufacturer recommends.
How much are bubbles?
- New cylinder: from 100 to 140 PLNdepending on the system and the store where you buy.
- Exchange: PLN 39.99 for filling the previously possessed cartridge.
- The cost of 1 liter of sparkling water when replacing: approx. 67 groszy Assuming that one cartridge is enough for 60 liters of water.
- Number of liters from one cartridge: up to 60 lusually around 45-50 L.
If you approach the topic with your head – that is, you use the exchange, take care of the return dates and do not exaggerate with excess bubbles in each bottle – Sodastream saturator can really be an inexpensive and comfortable way for everyday sparkling water. An additional advantage is that such a solution does not contribute to generating garbage in the form of plastic bottles.
