SonicWall today announced the release of NSv XS Gen 8, a new subscription-based virtual firewall designed specifically for managed service providers (MSPs) and managed security service providers (MSSPs) operating in small, distributed and cloud environments.

With this new solution, partners will be able to deploy in virtualized environments the same Gen 8 protection that they until now offered in physical infrastructures, also incorporating a flexible model aimed at facilitating the generation of recurring income. “NSvcomments Sergio Martínez, country manager of SonicWall.

The launch responds to a context of increasing sophistication of threats. According to SonicWall’s Cyber Protect 2026 report, high and medium severity attacks increased 20.8% over the past year, driven by more advanced and automated tactics. In parallel, 52% of companies already operate most of their infrastructure in the cloud, which has made protecting the physical perimeter exclusively an insufficient strategy.

Advanced security for distributed environments

NSv XS has been developed to respond to the real needs of MSPs such as remote offices, small corporate headquarters and SME and microbusiness environments.

Compared to previous generations, the solution practically doubles threat prevention performance. Additionally, VPN performance increases from 500 Mbps to 780 Mbps and encrypted traffic inspection capacity is increased eightfold, allowing you to protect more demanding workloads without compromising operational capacity.

A model adapted to the MSP business

The new solution will be available in three subscription levels designed to adapt to different service models.

The Secure Connect level offers essential firewall capabilities, high availability, and centralized management. Advanced Protection Security Suite (APSS) adds advanced threat prevention, cloud management, and a built-in cyber guarantee of up to $100,000. For its part, Managed Protection Security Suite (MPSS) incorporates services co-managed by the SonicSentry NOC team, support for critical incidents outside of business hours and up to $200,000 in cyber guarantee.

Updates on SonicOS and NSM

Along with the launch of NSv XS, SonicWall also presents SonicOS 8.2.1 and NSM 4.0, new versions aimed at simplifying and optimizing the management of the entire Gen 8 platform.

Among the main new features of SonicOS 8.2.1 are automatic blocking of compromised IP addresses, improvements in the transport of encrypted traffic, advanced SD-WAN capabilities and more efficient inspection of encrypted traffic in larger deployments.

For its part, NSM 4.0 incorporates new features for simplified VPN policy management, integrated regulatory compliance controls and advanced reporting tools, reducing operational complexity in managing large-scale firewall services.
