Katy Perry aboard the New Shepard rocket. The singer took part in an expensive adventure organized by Jeff Bezos.
Commercial space flights are closer than we think – you do not have to be a NASA member with many years of experience to experience weightlessness on your own skin. You only need to be fabulously rich or very recognizable, so that the billionaire will want to pack you in the rocket and shoot you into space. Jeff Bezos – the creator of Amazon and the owner of the Blue Origin space company – put on Katy Perry. The singer, accompanied by several other women, was today outside Kármán.
Tourist flights into space from Blue Origin, i.e. fun for the rich
Space tourism and generally the concept of sending people not directly related to the cosmonautics sector to the orbit, this is not such a new phenomenon. Blue Origin – belonging to Jeff Bezos – has been operating on the market since 2000 and has already repeatedly completed missions of the “tourist” genre, using the New Shepard rocket. Many people, however, question the “alleged “ness” of Bezos, because Blue Origin takes passengers around the Kármán line, i.e. the conventional limit of space, located in 100 km NPM
However, this is not a cheap fun, because although there are no official ticket prices, it is estimated that Blue Origin wishes from 200 to 500 thousand. dollars for organizing such an adventure. Well, unless you can significantly contribute to your image to promote the service – just like Katy Perry. The singer and celebrity spent a few minutes today in a conventionally considered space space. She was to make an important statement there, but … technical problems interrupted.
New Shepard rocket with another success – the crew reached the ground safely
Katy Perry, in the company of journalist Gayle King, film producer Kerianne Flynn, Bezos’s fiancée Lauren Sánchez, as well as two former employees NASA (Aisha Bowe and Amandy Nguyen), today entered the autonomous New Shepard rocket, which took this unusual crew outside Kármán.
The flight to the place where women could experience the feelings of weightlessness for a moment, lasted 11 minutes, and the whole was broadcast on YouTube and the Blue Origin website. Unfortunately, the broadcast broke up several times and ultimately we did not hear a special advertisement from the American singer. A moment after reaching the site, the crew had to fasten the belts again and prepare for the return procedure. Only 7 minutes after disconnecting from the capsule, the rocket landed on the platform, and 3 minutes later the capsule returned to the ground.
After landing, the crew did not hide his emotion – Katy Perry kissed the constant land and announced the recording of the song about her extraterrestrial journey. The New Shepard rocket noted the 31st start – Jeff Bezos can therefore talk about low success and successfully developed patterns, although a long way to be public space tourism.
