In a context of constant disruption, technologies such as artificial intelligence, process automation, IoT or robotics are consolidated as the key levers that will redefine the future of work and education. The Alfonso X El Sabio and Mit Technology Review University analyzes this phenomenon in a new report that focuses on the most demanded powers by the market.
Emerging technologies are no longer long -term promises, but a reality that molds, at vertigo speed, business fabric, educational system and the relationship between individuals and institutions. This is one of the main conclusions of the report “How technology continues to transform professions. The perspective of the work and academic world”, prepared by the Alfonso X El Sabio (Uax) University together with the Mit Technology Review team in Spanish.
The research, promoted by the Observatory of the Impact of Technology on the Uax professions, identifies five technological areas with a decisive impact: artificial intelligence, process automation, cloud computing, IoT and robotics, in addition to underlining the growing role of technologies linked to renewable energies.
Artificial intelligence: key to employability
Among all the trends analyzed, the generative AI emerges as the most decisive for the future professional of the students. According to the study, 63% of students consider to dominate the use of this technology for their labor development.
Given this reality, Uax has taken a decisive step: it has incorporated certified training in AI as a mandatory part of the academic curriculum, both for students and teachers. “Artificial intelligence is not just a tool, it is a new language that tomorrow’s professionals must speak fluently,” they emphasize from the university.
This commitment is part of an educational model that prioritizes employability, with visible results: the STEM degrees of the University, such as Physics, AI or computing, touch 100% labor insertion.
Automation, Robotics and IoT: The new work fabric
Process automation through workflow tools, combined with cloud technologies and digital identity, are reconfiguring entire sectors by releasing repetitive task professionals and allowing them to focus on contributions with greater strategic value.
For its part, robotics and IoT connectivity, enhanced by 5G networks, are revolutionizing fields such as medicine. The combination of these technologies allows advances such as telemedicine, the use of wearables or robot surgeries, which improve the efficiency and quality of the service.
The strategic role of cloud and clean energies
The cloud infrastructure remains the invisible support of this transformation, facilitating from the development of digital twins to interconnected platforms capable of operating in real time. In addition, the geopolitical context has put the focus on European digital sovereignty, where cloud infrastructures play a critical role.
Another rising area is the technologies applied to renewable energies, driven by regulatory pressure, social demand and climatic urgency. According to the report, sustained growth of this sector is expected, with a growing need for technical and specialized profiles.
Uax: an educational model focused on technology with purpose
With more than 30 years of experience, the Alfonso X El Sabio University has placed technology as a backbone of its pedagogical model. All its degrees include certifications in digital competences, and key content is taught as prompting and programming for non -programmers.
In addition, initiatives such as Uaxmakers allow students to work in real challenges together with companies such as Google or IBM, applying their technological knowledge to projects with social impact and aligned with sustainable development objectives.
