For the sixth time, the Ministry of National Defence is organising a competition in which authors of diploma theses on cybersecurity issues have a chance to win cash prizes.
The Cybersecurity Department of the Ministry of National Defense is organizing a competition for the Marian Rejewski Award for the best scientific work in the field of cybersecurity and cryptology. The competition is open to authors of engineering, bachelor’s or master’s theses at Polish universities (Category I) and authors of doctoral dissertations, on the basis of which a university located in the territory of the Republic of Poland awarded a doctoral degree (Category II).
The subject of the works must touch upon the broadly understood area cybersecurityand the works themselves must be written in Polish or English. Importantly, the authors of the works must have defended them not earlier than October 1, 2020. Works submitted to previous editions of the Marian Rejewski Award competition and assessed on merit cannot be re-entered into the 6th edition of the Competition. If works submitted in previous years did not pass the formal assessment stage or were submitted after the deadline, they may be re-submitted.

What can you win? The competition awards cash prizes, additional prizes, and prizes in kind.
The prizes in category I are:
- First prize – 10 thousand zlotys
- 2nd prize – 7 thousand zlotys
- Third prize – 5 thousand zlotys
The prizes in category II are:
- First prize – PLN 15,000
- 2nd prize – PLN 11,000
- Third prize – PLN 8,000
Additional prizes to be chosen by the Competition winners are:
- A visit to the Dęblin garrison, including a presentation of flight and parachute jump simulators used to train cadets of the Air Force Academy, a visit to the Air Force Museum in Dęblin, a visit to the 41st Air Training Base with the opportunity to see the aircraft used by the unit up close and a presentation of a flight in a helicopter or training aircraft.
- Visit to the Naval Academy including a motorboat cruise on the Bay of Gdańsk, a tour of the Naval Port in Gdynia, presentation of selected university simulators. Ride in an Abrams tank, carried out by the 1st Armoured Brigade, rescue training after an emergency landing on water, carried out by the Polish Army Divers and Scuba Divers Training Centre.
