Kyndryl, Toyota Systems Corporation and Toyota Finance Corporation have announced a collaboration for Toyota Finance to incorporate agentic AI into its operations and transform the management of its IT services. The project will harness the potential of this technology to optimize infrastructure design, change management and impact analysis processes.

Kyndryl and Toyota Systems will apply the Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework to implement native AI workflows in Toyota Finance’s IT operations. Both companies are developing a technology change management solution that will use AI agents based on customer-specific rules and insights, such as IT environments, runbooks, and operations calendars. The objective is to identify possible inconsistencies and risks, as well as improve the efficiency and reliability of the processes.

Transform IT operations

«People are essential for sustainable growth. By enabling skilled engineers from Toyota Systems and Kyndryl to use technologies such as agent-based AI, we can create a virtuous cycle where people can focus on tackling new challenges and generating greater value,” said Akira Umehara, IT Division Director at Toyota Finance. “Our goal is to turn digital technology into a force that drives business itself.”

“To help realize a sustainable mobility society, we have launched an initiative to transform our IT operations in line with this goal. Going forward, we will collaborate even more closely with Kyndryl to apply human-centric, agentic AI across the entire IT lifecycle,” said Iwao Nakano, Commissioner and Head of Finance IT Division at Toyota Systems.

The manager highlighted that this approach reflects the jidoka philosophy, known as “automation with a human touch.” “By combining direct operational experience with digital technology, we will generate value through continuous improvement,” he added.

For his part, Yoshinori Irisawa, president of Kyndryl Japan, stressed the importance of having adequate infrastructure to deploy this technology in business environments. “Kyndryl’s infrastructure-first approach to deploying agent-based AI allows us to support its adoption at production scale, balancing scalability and security in mission-critical systems,” he said.

“We will continue to work closely with our customers to help them implement AI safely and effectively, while maintaining strong governance and operational resilience,” he added.

Improving engineering productivity at Toyota Finance

In collaboration with Kyndryl and Toyota Systems, Toyota Finance will use agentic AI in its production environment to respond more quickly to changing business needs and maintain high-quality infrastructure services, in accordance with corporate governance standards. The initiative also aims to strengthen business continuity and increase the productivity of engineering teams.

Incorporating intelligent agents will improve efficiency and standardize the quality of review workflows. In particular, analyzing the impact of system changes is an example of how agentic AI can reduce the time needed to make decisions and reduce the workload of engineers.

Thanks to the automation of tasks and the use of the specific knowledge of each technological environment, the solution seeks to facilitate more agile and consistent change management, without giving up the necessary controls to guarantee the security and stability of the systems.

Kyndryl, Toyota Systems and Toyota Finance plan to progressively expand the use of agentic AI to all phases of the IT infrastructure lifecycle. With this evolution, the three companies aim to extend the benefits of intelligent automation and move towards a broader transformation of technological services processes.
