The company Vertiv, a company that offers solutions for critical infrastructures and that designs and manufactures power, cooling and services systems for data centers, telecommunications networks and commercial and industrial environments, has just presented its new efficient hybrid direct current (DC) power system: Vertiv PowerDirect 7100 Energy.
It is a direct current power system prepared for hybrid solutions, developed to allow telecommunications and edge operators to reinforce the reliability of their networks, improve operational efficiency and accelerate their energy transition strategies.
Vertiv’s system provides scalable power with intelligent controls in a wide variety of operating conditions, from stable networks to remote or offline locations, and gives operators the flexibility to adapt to new power sources and growing digital consumption, optimizing efficiency in each scenario.
Advanced cargo management
Available now in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Vertiv PowerDirect 7100 Energy delivers up to 52 kW of scalable power at 48 V DC and achieves up to 98% efficiency. Based on Vertiv’s fourth generation hybrid architecture, it seamlessly integrates the power grid, generators and alternative energy sources – such as solar, wind or fuel cells – ensuring continuous supply even in places where the grid is unreliable and thus contributing to greater energy efficiency.
At the core of the system are Vertiv solar converters and Vertiv modular rectifiers, managed by the Vertiv NetSure control unit (NCU). Together, they enable advanced load management, remote monitoring and energy scheduling aimed at maximizing performance, extending equipment life and ensuring sustained efficiency in every operation.
In the words of Dave Wilson, director of Global Hybrid Solutions at Vertiv, “the world demands energy efficiency and flexibility in the face of the growth of communications, such as 5G and edge connectivity. Vertiv PowerDirect 7100 Energy offers operators a unique and intelligent platform capable of adapting to any network condition, providing reliable energy and supporting the transition towards cleaner and more efficient strategies,” concludes the manager.
Designed for tight spaces and demanding environments, Vertiv PowerDirect 7100 Energy is available in 500 A, 750 A and 1000 A configurations for telecom and edge racks. Its front-access design simplifies installation and maintenance, while its –40°C to +65°C operating range ensures consistent performance with maximum efficiency in remote or outdoor locations.
Vertiv PowerDirect 7100 Energy expands Vertiv NetSure’s global portfolio of DC power solutions and hybrid power systems within its comprehensive power chain architecture. Combined with Vertiv’s thermal management, IT management and lifecycle services solutions, it provides a solid foundation for a reliable and optimally efficient digital infrastructure, ready for the energy challenges of the future.

With rack densities and heat loads reaching new highs, data center operators are looking to improve cooling efficiency solutions beyond choosing specific unit selections. Flexible configurations and overall facility plans should align with room layouts, airflow paths, business objectives, and expansion plans.
Early planning of containment strategies improves cooling performance, reduces energy use, and optimizes infrastructure, which can scale efficiently with increasing operational demands.
