Pure Storage has taken a strategic step in the field of virtualization with the launch of PortWorx for Kubevirt, a new solution defined by software oriented specifically to manage virtual machines on kubernettes. Designed to integrate with Red Hat Onshift Virtualization Engine, this tool seeks to offer a more profitable, safe and scalable alternative for companies that are immersed in digital transformation processes.

Thanks to the conjunction of Portworx and Openshift, companies can manage both virtual machines and cloud-native applications in a unified environment, thus reducing the complexity and total cost of property.

“Many companies already use Portworx with OpenShift not only to migrate and manage loads, but also to boost the development of innovative applications,” says Ajay Singh, Chief Product Offer of Pure Storage. “We are proud of the results of this collaboration and excited about what we hold for next year.”

For its part, Ashesh Badani, SVP and Chief Product Officer of Red Hat, emphasizes that “although many organizations advance towards native cloud loads, there is still a great dependence on traditional virtualization. With this joint solution, they can evolve at their own pace.”

Portworx for Kubevirt

  • Cost optimization. PortWorx for Kubevirt allows saving between 30 % and 50 % on virtualization costs, according to current customer data. This translates into a significant reduction in the total property cost, while increasing operational efficiency in hybrid, local, cloud or edge environments.
  • Modernization at your pace. The solution is designed to facilitate progressive modernization. Companies do not have to migrate all their applications immediately to the cloud-native environment. They have the option to continue executing their current loads in virtual machines, while developing new native applications in Kubernettes, adjusting to their own deadlines and resources.
  • Application and data flexibility. With the support of Red Hat Onshift Virtualization Engine, this proposal facilitates the implementation, administration and escalation of virtual machines in Kubernetes, regardless of the environment in which they are executed. In this way, Pure Storage and Red Hat reinforce their commitment to offer organizations flexible and efficient tools to advance their transition to more modern and resilient architectures.
