TECNO a rising star in the gaming segment? The Chinese manufacturer proves once again that it wants to create innovative devices for gamers.

TECNO is on the Vistula with smartphones, but the Chinese manufacturer has a lot of devices up its sleeve that are still waiting for their European premiere. I had the opportunity to see them at this year’s IFA and I know one thing – TECNO has nothing to think about. We need AR gaming glasses and a liquid-cooled mini PC right now.

TECNO Pocket Go has played on the nose – literally

I had the opportunity to test some of the devices shown by TECNO in Berlin a few months ago during the MWC trade fair, so the sight of a robo-dog or a computer enclosed in a pad (which I wrote about in this publication) was no surprise, but this time I learned a little more about them, which raised the level of subjective enthusiasm to a higher level. Especially in the case of the aforementioned TECNO Pocket Go set, a relatively inexpensive solution for gamers, offering high-end gaming experiences on the train or train.

TECNO is touting it as the industry’s first Windows AR gaming headset, but what does that really mean? Well, the TECNO Pocket Go is nothing more than a pair of glasses with a 0.71-inch Micro-OLED screen. When paired with a dedicated controller, they create a set powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor. The device is equipped with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, which means you can play AAA titles on it relatively comfortably, and pretty much anywhere, because the image is displayed right in front of the user’s eyes. The TECNO Pocket Go even has its own speakers and a patented vibration algorithm, and thanks to a six-axis gyroscope and AI supporting head tracking, the glasses are surprisingly comfortable to use, without any discomfort – it’s worth noting, however, that these are opinions after a relatively short time “on the nose”.

Interestingly, the TECNO Pocket Go is not just a gaming device. It can be connected to an Android smartphone or iPhone, or even a work computer, so the glasses can also be a useful tool for remote work, simulating an additional screen. At MWC, I learned that the TECNO Pocket Go is still closer to a concept product than a device ready for sale, but now this narrative has changed significantly. There are many indications that the gaming AR glasses may reach the first reviewers by the end of this year. Tecno has not yet shared the official price, but there was talk of $1,099.

Mega computer in a mini case

The TECNO Pocket Go isn’t the only gaming device that stole the show at this year’s IFA. When visiting the Tecno zone, it was impossible to miss the glowing MEGA MINI Gaming G1, a liquid-cooled mini computer with powerful components. An Intel Core i9-13900H processor, 32GB DDR5, 2TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (enhanced by NVIDIA DLSS 3 technology), Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 6E support, and full RGB backlighting – all in a compact 255x150x150mm.

Mini computers are also set to reach their first users over the next six months. TECNO invites those interested to Kickstarter, where you can support the project and join the queue by donating just under PLN 2,500.

In addition, at IFA 2024, TECNO also showed off a few smaller devices, such as the Tecno Watch Pro 2 watches, the new Sonic 2 headphones, and the AI-powered MEGABOOK 13 S1 13th laptops. Unfortunately, their availability in Poland remains a mystery.
