A few codes that will allow you to get something more from the computer. You will not find anywhere in the settings of these options.
Many Apple laptop users have long complained about the automatic switching on the computer after lifting the cover. You can search all options, and we will not find even mention of changing the behavior of the equipment. However, it turns out that Apple allows you to introduce such changes, as it informs on the official help website. This only two days ago appeared on the web and makes a considerable sensation among MacBook users with Apple Silicon processors, which operate on the basis of the MacOS sequoia 15 (and – in the future – newer).
How to deactivate automatic turn on the computer after lifting the cover?
If you want to control when your MacBook with the Apple Silicon system starts, you will need to use the Terminal application. It is there that through several commands we can change the way the computer is preserved after we raise the computer lid. What commands allow it – we explain step by step in the guide below.
- Make sure your Mac laptop with Apple Silicon has a MacOS sequoia or newer system installed.
- Open the Terminal application, which you will find in the tool folder in the application folder.
- Enter in the terminal one of the commands below and press ENTER:
- To prevent starting when opening the cover or connecting the power supply: sudo nvram bootpreference =%00
- To prevent starting only when opening the cover: sudo nvram bootpreference =%01
- To prevent startup only when connecting the power supply: sudo nvram bootpreference =%02
- When a prompt appears, enter the administrator’s password (remember that the password entered in the terminal will not be visible), and then press Enter.
- Ready, from now on your computer will change behavior after opening the cover.
Useful option, it’s a pity that “hidden”
Undoubtedly, this is one of those options that users have been looking for for a long time. It is strange that Apple made us wait for her to implement it in the latest computers – and that it complicated it so much. Because the very fact that you have to do this by command from the terminal means that many users may never find it.
