In a context where safe and flexible connectivity is a growing necessity for small and medium enterprises, Zyxel Networks has taken a strategic step with the integration of Tailscale technology in its USG Flex Hier Firewalls series. The promising alliance Transform the VPN experience (Virtual Private Network), eliminating technical barriers and improving the protection of hybrid environments.

The proposal, already available for users with V1.32 or higher firmware, allows you to configure an encrypted private network with only a few clicks. Thanks to the Wireguard protocol and the “peer-to-peer” approach that prevents central servers, this solution not only improves performance, but also scale and safely according to business needs.

At the service of simpler and more safe networks

Instead of opting for a complex traditional infrastructure, the combination of Zyxel and Tailscale is based on a mesh network managed from a single administration interface. Thus, connected devices can communicate directly with each other without manual configuration of servers, ports or redirects.

“VPNs are essential to protect the data and support hybrid work forces, but they have usually been too complex for smaller organizations with limited IT resources,” says Ken Tsai, president of Zyxel Networks. “This integration offers our clients a simpler, quick and intelligent way to enable safe connections in all its devices, wherever they are.”

Simplicity does not sacrifice security: Tailscale allows authenticating users through platforms such as Google Workspace, Microsoft enters ID, Okta or Onelogin, and implement multifactor authentication (MFA) from these accounts, which reinforces protection in Byod and mobile environments.

A solution designed for the new business environment

The USG Flex H Firewalls now expand their compatibility with the most used VPN protocols (IPSEC, SSL and Wireguard), allowing to cover multiple remote access scenarios. In addition, the multiplatform support, which includes Windows, Macos, Linux, Android, iOS and Cloud Services, makes this proposal especially attractive for companies with a diverse or distributed IT infrastructure.

“The VPNs are reputed to be slow, difficult to configure and impossible to manage. We create Tailscale to solve this problem, and now we are excited to offer this simplicity to more people thanks to our collaboration with Zyxel Networks,” adds Avery Pennar, co -founder and CEO of Tailscale. “The presence of Zyxel Networks in the SMEs market allows us to help many more teams to avoid the problem of VPN and return to work safely.”

AI, private and future networks: an inevitable combination

This agreement positions Zyxel Networks as one of the first suppliers to bring AI to the VPN connectivity nucleus for SMEs. The trend points to a future where network configurations will cease to be exclusive to specialists and will be available to any company, thanks to intelligent, intuitive solutions and without added costs.
