IKEA offers a whole lot of useful gadgets that will make your (geek’s) life easier. Which of them are worth buying?

SJOSS chargers

If you are looking for a cheap but efficient solution for everyday charging – SJÖSS is an offer worth having on your radar. The Polish IKEA offer includes three variants of this charger:

  • 1 USB-C port, 20 W – PLN 14.99, perfect for a pocket or small bag
  • 2 USB-C ports, 45 W – PLN 69.99, charges two devices simultaneously (22 W per port for simultaneous operation, 45 W for one)
  • 1 USB-C port, 65 W – PLN 69.99, the same price as the 45 W model, but with enough power to charge most laptops

All models support Power Delivery (PD 3.0), Quick Charge (QC4+) and the PPS protocol, which is what you will find in much more expensive equipment from Apple or Samsung.

VÄSTMÄRKE induction charger

If you have an iPhone with MagSafe (or Pixel with PixelSnap or use a case with magnets), this variant of the VÄSTMÄRKE charger is just for you. The magnets perfectly center the phone on the charger – avoiding slipping. It also works as a handle because you can insert your fingers between the elements and hold the phone comfortably. It charges with a power of 15 W, costs PLN 34.99 – several times cheaper than the original MagSafe from Apple, and does exactly the same thing. And it looks more interesting.

GRILLPLATS plugin

Plugged into a socket, it allows you to remotely control any device – a lamp, a fan, a humidifier, etc. There is also an extended version – the set includes a remote control that you can hang on the wall and remove if necessary. Optionally, it can be connected to a smart home system, if you already have one. The plug itself costs PLN 34.99, and with the remote control it costs PLN 44.99, so you don’t have to reach for your phone.

TIMMERFLOTTE sensor

For PLN 39.99 you get a temperature and humidity sensor with a small display that, with one press of a button, shows first the temperature and then the humidity. It supports the Matter over Thread standard, so you can plug it straight into Apple Home, Google Home or Samsung SmartThings without any gateway. Small (7 cm in diameter), it runs on two AAA batteries and lies or hangs in a chosen place, also completely invisibly.

Remote control – double BILRESA button

Does it happen to you that you are already lying comfortably and suddenly you remember that the light is not turned off? BILRESA solves exactly this problem – a small remote control for PLN 24.99 allows you to turn smart devices on and off, dim the lighting and run programmed scenes. It supports Matter, so it connects to Apple Home, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings without any gateway.

VAPPEBY waterproof Bluetooth speaker

The speaker is perfect for the bathroom, balcony or swimming pool. It is waterproof (IPX7), so you don’t have to worry if it falls into the bathtub or gets caught in the rain. It sounds decent for its price – it won’t replace Bose or JBL, but it’s enough for podcasts and background music. You can combine the two into a stereo pair, which for the price of 49.99 is a good deal.

VÄSTMÄRKE stand and charger

Stand with a built-in inductive charger, made of cork. You can place the phone horizontally or vertically, and the strong magnet will keep it firmly in place – especially useful when cooking or watching a TV series on the kitchen counter. Or while working to keep an eye on notifications on your desk. It supports the Qi 2.0 standard (both BPP and MPP) and works with Power Delivery 3.0 and Quick Charge 2.0

FÖRSÄSONG cable shelf

FÖRSÄSONG is the easiest way to deal with the mess of cables under your desk. A metal shelf mounted under the countertop collects power strips, cables and chargers from the floor and allows you to hide them where no one will look. Installation without drilling (with clamps) means that you can move or remove it without leaving a trace on the desk. It costs only PLN 29.99.

KALKSTUFF cable holder

KALKSTUFF is a self-adhesive holder that sticks to a desk, wall or furniture leg and keeps cables in a row – no cables fall behind the desk or get tangled under your feet. It is especially useful in places where you often connect and disconnect cables – the charger is always in the same place, at hand. It costs a few zlotys per set, and the tidiness on your desk is worth it.

HAVSKÅL cable weight

HAVSKÅL is a small weight that sticks to the end of the cable and makes it stay where you put it – on the counter, on the bedside table, on the table. It looks so neat that it does not spoil the aesthetics. It works best with USB-C cables for everyday charging – you put the phone down, reach for the cable, connect it without looking for it. It costs a few zlotys each.
