T-Systems connects 70 Ford suppliers around the world with Catena-X, the automotive industry’s data ecosystem. Ford’s objective is to have reliable, standardized and traceable CO₂ data throughout the entire supply chain within this ecosystem, to know the carbon footprint of products, in addition to having it as a basis to comply with regulatory requirements, with sustainability objectives and to consolidate data-based decisions.

With this project, Deutsche Telekom’s digitalization services division consolidates itself as a provider of Data Spaces in Europe, providing support to top-tier providers, regardless of their size, region or degree of digitalization, and facilitating their integration into the ecosystem from the initial consultation to the satisfactory exchange of data through the platform.

According to Elke Anderl, Commercial Director at T-Systems: “We are incorporating Ford’s main suppliers into the automotive industry’s data ecosystem. This sends a clear signal: Catena-X is establishing itself as the standard within the ecosystem. This allows suppliers to maintain control over their own data. And companies thus contribute to their security, data protection and greater economic independence within the ecosystem.”

The advantages of Catena-X

Catena-X is the world’s first Data Space for the automotive industry. A collaborative and trusted data ecosystem in which companies maintain control over their data at all times, reinforcing their role within the sector’s global ecosystem.

Data on CO₂ emissions remains in partner systems and is only shared selectively within the ecosystem. In this way, Catena-X not only promotes transparency and efficiency, but also compliance with regulatory requirements and a sustainable transformation of supply chains throughout the ecosystem.

T-Systems is a founding member and partner of the Catena-X Automotive Network association, and is one of the ten shareholders of the operating company Cofinity-X, actively contributing to the development of the ecosystem. T-Systems offers a wide range of services related to Catena-X: from advice and incorporation into the ecosystem, to connection solutions to Catena-X and Dataspace-as-a-Service.

T-Systems and Data Spaces

Together with its parent company, Deutsche Telekom, T-Systems has participated in pioneering Data Spaces projects in Europe and has experience and concrete solutions to develop Data Spaces and implement them within an interoperable digital ecosystem. Its proposal is based on a combination of capabilities that integrates cloud, data analytics, cybersecurity, interoperability and regulatory knowledge, thus strengthening each ecosystem in which it participates.

“Data Spaces are a European strategic response to a specific need: building a data economy based on interoperability, trust and sovereignty. They are a strategic infrastructure so that Europe can innovate, cooperate and compete without giving up its principles, promoting the development of a solid and sustainable ecosystem,” said Elena Madera, head of Industry and the automotive sector at T-Systems Iberia.
