Problems on the global market caused Valve to change its plans and we do not know when the long-awaited console will hit the shelves. However, new data may shed light on future plans.

Steam Machine delighted gamers around the world when, at the beginning of the year, Valve shared its vision of modern gaming in the living room and at the desk. Unfortunately, the rapidly developing chip crisis around the world means that only memories remain from the March premiere and we still do not know what will happen next. There was a glimmer of hope, and in the most boring and therefore unexpected form.

Valve picked up tons of goods. Does it include the long-awaited console?

We may not know when they will reach the first Steam Machine customers, but we certainly know that during the May holiday in Poland, 50 tons of game consoles reached the shores of the United States. At least this is what the import documents obtained by the Verge portal show.

This is not a traditional form of obtaining information and you may wonder about its effectiveness, but what is most important when you connect all the dots is that it really makes sense. It is true that in the case of Valve’s portable console – Steam Deck – on the CMRs (I’m guessing, because it wasn’t mentioned what kind of papers it was about) it also said “game console”, but it so happens that we already know this console very well. Not only how it works, but also how much it weighs.

From this point the path becomes very short, because we know the type of containers in which goods were transported last weekend, as well as the type of containers in which Steam Decks were transported. Therefore, we know how much it weighs empty and Verge also knows how many pieces of portable consoles were transported during each delivery. Time for the cherry on the cake, Valve also said that the Steam Machine weighs about 2.6 kilograms. With all this data, you can be confident that the delivery contained the expected equipment.

Consoles are consoles, they better order more pads

Such a highly anticipated piece of equipment that we probably don’t even realize. Judging, of course, by the recent premiere of the controller, which was released together with the console, but they couldn’t wait for it and they simply started selling it. And this way, from yesterday you can order a Steam Controller costing PLN 419… That’s what you could say, if it weren’t for the fact that it immediately sold out.

The new gadget literally fell apart. The fact that it works with multiple devices, not just the long-awaited machine, certainly helped. However, I believe that it also clearly shows how great a success the upcoming Steam Machine is likely to be. In its materials, Valve presents the fulfillment of the promises made by Xbox Series X. Not only are these two devices similar to each other, but they also offer access to huge libraries.

Except that Steam Machine is free of Microsoft nonsense and will run on its own Linux-based system, with menus designed for both consoles and the traditional computer keyboard and mouse set. Nobody will have to worry about subscriptions, because you will simply be able to choose games from your own library or wait for regular, huge Steam sales.

Valve promises that the next batch is already in production and there should be no major downtime, so there will certainly be no shortage of additional accessories for the console’s premiere, but we already have a foretaste of the madness that will surely follow. So it’s worth keeping your finger on the pulse and being ready for a real fight when Steam Machine premieres. Let’s hope that this will happen soon and that the answer is actually hidden in 50 tons of “game consoles”.
