As enterprises accelerate their transition to the cloud, rapidly adopt the use of AI, and face increasingly complex data security threats, Commvault has announced a strategic alliance with Microsoft around the importance of AI and cyber resilience. This alliance reinforces the commitment of both companies to innovation and data protection in cloud environments.

Through this alliance, Microsoft will offer Commvault’s extensive AI and cyber resilience technologies as a native ISV service on Microsoft Azure. The alliance will enable Azure customers to discover, provision and seamlessly integrate Commvault’s resiliency capabilities directly from the Azure cloud platform.

These capabilities can be used to help businesses quickly recover and restore data, applications, and identities if systems are compromised by attacks, service outages, or human error. This alliance will provide a unified experience across the acquisition, onboarding and operations phases, eliminating the need for separate infrastructure, manual integrations or external tools for Commvault customers.

“We’ve been collaborating with Microsoft for more than 25 years, and now we’re taking that collaboration to the next level,” said Sanjay Mirchandani, president and CEO of Commvault. “Many of our customers rely on Microsoft Azure to grow their business in the cloud, use AI, optimize operations, and bring their ideas to life. “With this partnership and joint commitment, we can also offer Microsoft customers best-in-class plug-and-play resiliency.”

Smooth user experience under Azure

Girish Bablani, President of Azure Core at Microsoft, said: “Customers rely on Azure as a resilient foundation for their cloud and AI workloads. “The native support for Commvault, the result of this alliance, gives them more options when it comes to protecting and recovering their data, with a more seamless experience within Azure.”

Banks, retailers, hospitals and other large organizations are facing increasing pressure to modernize their infrastructure, manage growing cyber risks, and support AI-driven transformation, all at the same time. Boards and executive teams are increasingly prioritizing resilience as a critical requirement for digital and AI initiatives. This strategic alliance and the native service in Azure are designed to respond to these needs and offer key benefits to joint customers:

  • Enable resilient AI adoption: The partnership delivers built-in recovery and resiliency capabilities that seamlessly fit AI-driven workflows in Azure, helping organizations innovate faster while maintaining data security, trust, and resiliency.
  • Deliver a native and seamless experience in Azure: Through the alliance between both companies and with Commvault natively integrated into the Azure cloud platform, customers will be able to deploy and manage Commvault resiliency capabilities alongside their existing Azure services through a consistent and integrated experience.
  • Maximize Azure investments: Customers can purchase Commvault Cloud through the Microsoft Marketplace and apply its usage toward their Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC), simplifying acquisition and aligning resiliency investments with overall cloud spending.

Commvault and Microsoft will collaborate on joint go-to-market initiatives, including co-selling, solution development and integrated sales actions designed to accelerate the transition to the cloud and customer adoption of cyber resilience in Azure.

The alliance also contemplates new opportunities for joint development and expansion of services. In terms of availability, Commvault’s native service for ISVs on Azure can be expected to enter public preview this summer, marking a new milestone in this strategic alliance.
