Along with the announcements made at OpenAI DevDay 2026, Adobe has introduced new interactive editing experiences associated with the Adobe plugin for ChatGPT. These updates provide greater control over images, layouts, and PDF files, taking advantage of the professional-grade creative and productivity tools already available through the plugin.

Edits stay in context as you move between the interactive editor and the conversation. You can also open a PDF, review the text or highlight passages, and then send the document context to ChatGPT to continue the task.

These experiences come to life in ChatGPT’s side panels. The new image editor dynamically displays controls depending on the type of editing you’re trying to make: if you tell ChatGPT that you want to change the color of an object, it will display specific color controls for that selection. Plus, the new PDF editor lets you make changes directly in the document, so you can easily go from describing the desired result to perfecting it.

New interactive editors for images and designs (powered by Photoshop and Adobe Express) combine the ease of conversational editing with more precise, direct control of details. Make specific adjustments to a specific part of an image by selecting an object or painting over an area. From there, refine adjustments and effects like hue, saturation, contrast, and more, with dynamic sliders.

Adoe precision and control on chatbot platforms

Imagine you’re taking a photo of a latte on a coffee table for a social media post, and there’s a napkin out of the picture. Open the image in the side panel, select it with the Brush tool and request a specific change: “remove the napkin from the table.” Once the napkin is removed, you can continue retouching the same image. To make the latte stand out more, refocus the cup with the Brush tool and ask ChatGPT to use the Adobe plugin to adjust its brightness and contrast. Adobe dynamically displays sliders for both parameters, allowing you to finely adjust the image to get the desired result.

It is also possible to work directly with PDF files in ChatGPT using the Acrobat tools built into the Adobe plugin. Open your document in the side panel to review text or highlight passages. You’ll be able to see exactly what you’re working with and update or annotate content directly, without having to change workspaces.

Together, these new experiences provide greater flexibility when using the tools in ChatGPT. This means less time spent figuring out how to accomplish a task and more time getting your content where you want it. Updates to Adobe’s ChatGPT plugin have already begun rolling out globally to the ChatGPT web version and app.
