The P9 and P7 SSD devices incorporate a USB4 interface, with sequential read speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s1 and capacities of up to 8 TB2. As the first products of Samsung’s new generation of portable SSDs, they are articulated around three key messages: “World-class performance for everyone”, “Smarter capacity” and “Freedom to take it with you”, combining high performance, large storage capacity and portability to improve the user experience of portable SSDs.

After their presentation during the Gamescom fair that took place last September, the P9 and P7 will soon be available to consumers with their official launch in our country. Building on these two products, Samsung will continue to expand its new generation of portable SSDs to address a broader range of storage needs and use cases.

Double the performance with USB4

The sequential read and write speeds of these Samsung devices are approximately double that of the previous generation. For comparison, the 4 terabyte (TB) T9, equipped with a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface, offers sequential read and write speeds of up to 2,000 MB/s.

The P9 is also the world’s first 8TB USB4 portable SSD supporting speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s. For this level of innovation and technological capability, the P9 was recognized earlier this year with a CES 2026 Innovation Award.

Thanks to its strong sustained write performance, the P9 supports 12K direct recording for professional production workflows, allowing creators to capture, store and edit large RAW image files and ultra-high resolution video.

Wide usage compatibility

The P7 is also equipped with USB4 technology and is designed to provide fast and convenient storage for work, entertainment and everyday use. It offers broad compatibility with numerous devices, including desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, game consoles and cameras.

The Samsung P7 has passed 2 meter drop tests, as well as shock and vibration resistance tests, helping users keep their important data protected during travel, outdoor activities and other mobility environments.

Both models are now available with storage capacities of 1, 2, 4 and 8 TB, available through the brand’s authorized distributors.
