Framework, i.e. a company that became famous for its modular laptops, presented its first desktop computer: Framework Desktop. And this may sound strange, after all, traditional desktop computers have always been modular, it … I must admit that the new proposal of Framework really stands out. What’s more: it looks really interesting!
Compact mini-pc with impressive capabilities
The Desktop framework is a computer enclosed in a 4.5 -liter capacity housing. It’s less thanWhich makes it smaller than PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X consoles. Its heart is the AMD Ryzen AI max 385 AI max+ 395 or, which will work solidly in both games and tasks requiring high higher performance. You can additionally have a computer with a configuration that uses LPDDR5X memory up to 128 GB, which in the compact PC world is not so common.
One of the most interesting aspects of Framework Desktop is the already mentioned modularity. Users can customize the computer’s appearance thanks to the replaceable front panels (21 variants), as well as the option of two I/O ports at the front.
In addition, the standard equipment was equipped with a standard mini-ITX board, a non-standard cooling system developed jointly with Cooler Master and NoTUA, 120 mm fans, 400W power supply, minimalist wiring adapted so that the slightest Chaos in the housing, as well as an optional handle for carrying .
The biggest problem is the RAM memory, which has been soldered and it is not possible to replace it. Framework admitted that after months of cooperation with AMD it was not possible to find a solution allowing for the use of replaceable bones while maintaining high capacity.
In addition, the compact PC also has a solid set of ports:
- Ethernet (5GBPS),
- 2x USB 4,
- 2x DisplayPort,
- 1x HDMI,
- 2x M.2 2280 NVME SSD sockets (which will provide support for up to 16 TB),
- 2x USB-A and headphone jack.
And how does it work for our portfolio? How much does a framework desktop cost
The Desktop framework is offered in several configurations – pre -orders can be placed now. A computer without disk, operating system, power cable and cooling has been priced as follows:
- 16 CPU cores, 40 GPU cores, 128 GB RAM – PLN 10479
- 8 CPU cores, 32 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM – PLN 5,749,
