The Volkswagen and CGI group have announced the expansion of their global collaboration. This initiative reinforces the long -term capabilities of the Volkswagen group to further expand a powerful IT infrastructure for the future. As part of their joint efforts, both partners have launched the new Marv1n entity, which will act as an international development unit for digitalization projects of the whole group and support Volkswagen developers.

By 2026, the company intends to replace hundreds of systems inherited with a lower number of new developments, but more powerful and scalable to the entire group. This is expected to accelerate processes and significantly reduce operational costs related to you. To achieve this goal, the Volkswagen Group is strengthening its software development capabilities, mainly through the constant expansion of its international subsidiaries, and through new cooperation models with selected partners.

According to Hauke Stars, a member of the TI Board of Directors of the Volkswagen Group, «for the development and production of modern products, we need modern IT systems. Therefore, in the Volkswagen Group we are working in our systems environment of the future: powerful, multi -bracket and scalable ». Stars adds that the greatest collaboration with CGI is another step to guarantee the growing demand for software development within the Volkswagen Group.

Marv1n launch

CGI and the Volkswagen Group are implementing the Marv1n entity as a 100% participated subsidiary by CGI Germany. According to François Boulanger, president and CEO of CGI, “through this strategic alliance, we will further intensify our solid relationship with Volkswagen as we collaborate to accelerate the business results of the Volkswagen Group in line with its vision and digitalization strategy.”

Boulanger explains that software architects, developers and CGI consultants will provide services and solutions based on both their technological expertise and the knowledge of production business processes. They hope to contribute to this new joint initiative the proven best practices, global capacities and technological innovation of CGI.

Benefits of collaboration

Volkswagen will benefit in many ways of this cooperation model. Marv1n employees will dedicate their software expertise exclusively to projects within the Volkswagen group, accelerating development processes. In addition, when working intensely and long term in these projects, the equipment will acquire a deep knowledge of the main processes and software products within the Volkswagen Group. Through a close integration of the equipment, Volkswagen guarantees the retention of this knowledge within the company.

Marv1n teams are initially focusing on projects related to technical development in Volkswagen, which is a key area in the impulse of the ongoing digitalization in the group. Its main objective is to accelerate the development of data based on data for projects of new vehicles.

For example, a new IT system is being designed for the entire company in which to consolidate the data of all requirements related to electrical/electronic architecture and software functions, which covers from preliminary development to the after -sales service.

This centralized data management approach is expected to shorten the development times of software updates and new digital products, such as Functions on Demand, for Volkswagen customers.
