More and more often we hear about ambitious photo and video projects that were made entirely with a smartphone. Now it’s not just a short session, but an entire Hollywood movie recorded on a phone!
Every time I see information about professional photo sessions or films/music videos recorded with a smartphone, I smile to myself. Not because it portends something bad – quite the opposite. Often, these materials make a huge impression. The problem, however, is that I am perfectly aware of how many additional accessories, filters and lights there are in all of this. which cost multiples of what we will pay for the phone itself.
Apple has been promoting the “Shot on iPhone” slogan very strongly for several years – and every year it goes deeper and deeper into it. Now the company has a lot of reason to be happy. Because the sequel to the film “28 Years Later” was recorded entirely with their device. Or more precisely: iPhone 15 Pro Max. And it cannot be denied that the first material released makes quite an impression. Especially if we keep in mind that the whole thing was recorded on a smartphone.
The sequel to “28 Years Later” is a film that was entirely recorded on iPhone 15 Pro Max
The deadly virus will return to eliminate those who managed to survive the last round. Thus, our heroes (in the main roles we will see Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and possibly also Cillian Murphy) will have to face a whole range of new dangers that fate will throw at them. Plotwise, if you’ve seen the previous installments of “28 Years Later”, you probably know exactly what to expect. However, what may come as a huge surprise to many are the technical issues. And the fact that the whole thing was recorded not with large, professional film cameras – but with a small gadget that we all (or at least most of us) carry in our pockets. And since the implementation took some time, we are not even talking about the latest Apple smartphone model, but last year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max. The effects can be seen in the trailer below.
More and more commercial footage is shot on a smartphone. And it doesn’t surprise me one bit
Smartphones are becoming more and more powerful for photos and videos every year. And although they already have a lot of possibilities on their own, when we add the rich market of accessories – things get even more interesting. Just yesterday, one of the photographers I follow posted a very cool video of him recording a video with one of the latest Xperia cameras. It may not be a set suitable for professional film production, but Kohki guides you through the entire process, talks about accessories and your choices. And just a few months ago, the Channel o Technology team showed how a FAUSTYNA music video was created, recorded… with exactly the same smartphone, i.e. iPhone 15 Pro Max. Is it possible?
