Aena has been recognized with the “Project of the Year” award for his deep technological modernization, promoted with Liferay and Minsait (Compañía de Indra). The award, delivered during the Life Customer Summit held in Madrid, highlights the effort of the public entity to completely transform its digital ecosystem, which serves millions of travelers every year.

The project has consisted of the migration of 142 portals, among them, those of the airports that Aena manages outside Spain, towards the Lifera Dxp platform, deployed on self -managed infrastructure (PAAS). This transformation has not only technologically unified the different sites, but has allowed the integration of 13 key systems (such as Azure AD, Api Manager, Linguaserve or Saml and Oauth authentication systems), as well as the management of more than 140 microsites of services, VIP rooms, parkings, etc.

One of the keys to success has been the multisite and multilingual approach, with the development of reusable components and standardized templates that facilitate the scalability and digital government of the entire platform.

Álvaro de Ramón, head of the client experience division in Aena, stressed the magnitude of the challenge, not only technical, but also organizational: “We face a digital transformation that not only implied technology, but also a deep cultural change. We wanted a self -managed platform and a governance model that unified our numerous portals under the principle of ‘a place for each thing and every thing in its place.”

The election of Ltalay DXP focused on its ability to integrate inherited systems, manage users and content agilely and support high traffic. Minsait, as a strategic partner, led the initial analysis of the AENA digital ecosystem to guarantee a controlled migration, while maintaining the operation and safety of the environment.

Towards a homogeneous and efficient digital experience

The result is an environment that not only optimizes navigation and improves the user experience, but also feels the foundations for a more mature and prepared digital strategy for the future. With an architecture based on reusable components, AENA has reduced development times, save operational costs and gain autonomy in the management of its digital assets.

From Minsait, Enrique Vega, senior manager of digital channels, highlights the strategic value of the project: “It was important to design a solution that facilitates the management of the AENA digital ecosystem worldwide. The choice of Lifey Dxp in self -managed paas provided us with the necessary versatility and support to address progressive migration and integration of legacy systems in a controlled and efficient way”.

In addition to improving the digital experience of users, the new platform will allow AENA to adopt future technological developments more quickly, from advanced analytics to service customization. The General Manager of Spain and Portugal de Lifefey, Beatriz Escobar, summarized it thus: “This project has not only transformed the digital presence of AENA, but has laid the foundations for future innovations, allowing to offer personalized experiences to millions of travelers worldwide.”
