Artificial Intelligence (AI) has experienced an unprecedented transformation in Spain and the world in the last two years. From being a technology reserved for highly specialized teams, it has become transversally integrated into most organizations. Its impact is no longer limited to large technology companies, as it is now present in internal processes, user experiences, complex automations and new business models, consolidating itself as a transversal capacity to drive innovation.

According to Alexis Segarra, CTO of Quantion, “previously an AI project was a great technical challenge and there was always a high component of research and uncertainty. Today, the way of building AI solutions has changed, and in teams the AI Engineer profiles are as important as those in charge of architecture and software development.” This change has promoted more transversal collaboration between technical and business profiles, favoring more agile and multidisciplinary development cycles.

This process has driven a profound cultural change, where almost 20% of Spanish companies already use AI systems, according to the latest report from the Bank of Spain. Technical and non-specialized teams coexist with artificial intelligence tools in their daily lives, a transversal interaction that has facilitated massive and sustained adoption.

Key trends for 2026

The year 2026 will mark a turning point towards the technological maturity of artificial intelligence. Companies will focus their efforts on developing robust, scalable and reliable products, applying quality standards typical of traditional software. Extensive testing, systematic validations and advanced control mechanisms will be the norm to ensure consistent, measurable and sustainable results. AI will no longer be experimental but will become an essential and transversal infrastructure of business operations.

In parallel, hyperpersonalization and advanced automation will be central axes in the evolution of technology. Digital experiences will dynamically adapt to the behavior and context of each user, offering adjusted responses in real time. At the same time, automation will continue to gain prominence, optimizing critical tasks and freeing up human resources for higher-value functions. These improvements will translate into even more transversal integration between processes, data and decisions.

For their part, sectors such as education, industry, health and transportation are already applying AI to personalize experiences, analyze operational data in real time and improve their overall efficiency. As Segarra points out, “there will not be a single leading sector, but rather organizations more or less prepared to take advantage of its potential,” depending on their ability to develop truly transversal approaches.

AI in 2026 will be transversal, strategic and deeply transformative. Its success will depend on the technological and organizational maturity of the companies, their ability to plan in the long term and having prepared talent, with roles that collaborate transversally between business and technology areas.

“The value of AI is tangible and massive. Companies that do not ride this wave will lose competitiveness and decision-making capacity compared to those who integrate it in an intelligent and planned way,” explains the CTO.

Looking ahead to 2028, artificial intelligence will undergo three major transformations: a real democratization with smaller models adapted to local contexts; a creative maturity that will allow the generation of text, image and video to be automated; and, finally, its consolidation as a personal and professional companion, with intelligent agents integrated into decision-making and daily management, playing an increasingly transversal role.

Technology consulting in Spain

With highly qualified specialists and a strong commitment to innovation, Quantion has turned Artificial Intelligence into a strategic pillar for the future, integrating it transversally in all its services, especially in areas such as generative AI, machine learning, multimodal architectures and intelligent assistants. These capabilities allow companies to automate processes, personalize the customer experience, and optimize their decision making.

Recently, Quantion began a new stage coinciding with its ten years of experience, announcing its integration into the French multinational Astek, a global engineering and technology consulting group. Following this acquisition, the Spanish firm expands its international capabilities and becomes part of the global network of the European leader in digital services.

With more than 150 experts, Quantion is integrated as a key piece in Astek’s European expansion strategy, which thus consolidates its presence in Spain – with more than 500 professionals – and positions Barcelona as a strategic digital delivery hub for national and international projects. In addition, this integration allows us to expand the nearshore services proposal and strengthen the scope of digital transformation transversally in multiple sectors.
