Atlassian has taken a decisive step in its strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into the day -to -day work teams. The Australian company, known for its Jira and Confluence products, announced today the launch of the Remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) Servera new server that facilitates the direct connection of language models and intelligent agents with the cloud -managed business data.

This solution will allow tools such as development environments, assistants based on AI or automation platforms safely access the knowledge stored in confluence Cloud and Jira Cloud. Thus, tasks can be automated, generate content or execute complex actions directly from external environments, without leaving the usual tools.

“The MCP is an open and powerful standard, with a diverse community in full growth, which has a real impact on collaboration between people and Ia. We are delighted to contribute to this ecosystem and boost the possibilities offered by MCP to our clients,” says Rajev Rajan, Chief Technology Officer of Atlassian.

Atlassian: New MCP Server Remote Server

Among the functions that are already available are the automatic generation of tickets in Jira or pages in Confluence, the summary of ongoing tasks, the execution of block actions or the enrichment of information with an external context accessible from models such as Claude, of Anthropic.

The development of the remote MCP Server has been carried out with the support of partners such as Cloudflare and Anthropic, which guarantees a robust, safe and highly scalable infrastructure. Atlassian has supported the cloudflare SDK Agents to implement Oauth authentication mechanisms and rigorous authorization controls since the system design.

Unlike other self -healing MCP servers, this remote version is fully managed by Atlassian, which simplifies its adoption and reinforces confidence in sensitive data management. The company has stressed that privacy and security have been fundamental pillars of the project.

The new server is already available in the beta phase for Jira and Confluence Cloud users, and represents a new advance towards a smarter, efficient and connected collaboration. The ultimate goal? That artificial intelligence not only attends, but also amplifies the potential for shared knowledge in organizations.
