AWS continues to demonstrate its leadership in the field of AI and cloud computing, at its “AWS re:Invent 2024” event. In the inaugural keynote, Dr. Swami Sivasubramanian, VP of AI and Data at AWS, highlighted that the innovations and collaborations announced not only accelerate the development of generative AI and machine learning, but also underscore the company commitment to global health and well-being.
With these new tools and partnerships, AWS continues to empower its customers to meet the challenges of the future with advanced technology solutions.
Amazon Bedrock: Driving Generative AI
AWS introduced new capabilities for Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that enables you to build and scale generative AI applications using high-performance foundational models. Among the new features, AWS will be the first cloud provider to offer Luma AI and poolside models, in addition to adding the latest Stability AI model. With the new Amazon Bedrock Marketplace capability, customers will have access to more than 100 popular and specialty models, making it easy to choose the right set for their needs.
Enhancements include a new hint cache and intelligent routing, allowing you to scale inference more efficiently and cost-effectively. Additionally, support for structured data and GraphRAG in Amazon Bedrock knowledge bases expands the personalization possibilities for generative AI experiences. Data automation automatically transforms unstructured and multimodal data into structured data, without the need for coding, optimizing the use of data for generative AI and analytics.
Amazon SageMaker AI: Innovations for Generative AI and Machine Learning
AWS also announced four new innovations for Amazon SageMaker AI, designed to accelerate the development and deployment of generative AI and machine learning models. New additions to Amazon SageMaker HyperPod enable customers to quickly get started with training public models, save time with flexible training plans, and maximize compute resource utilization, reducing costs by up to 40%.
SageMaker customers can now discover, deploy, and use generative AI and machine learning development applications from AWS partners, such as Comet, Deepchecks, Fiddler AI, and Lakera, directly in SageMaker. This provides the flexibility to choose the tools that best fit your needs.
Commitment to Women’s Health: ARPA-H Sprint for Women’s Health
AWS reaffirmed its commitment to women’s health by announcing support of up to $2 million in AWS credits for four beneficiaries of the ARPA-H Sprint for Women’s Health (SWH) launch. This initiative, funded by AWS Social Responsibility and Impact and facilitated through the ARPA-H Investor Catalyst Hub, seeks to address critical unsolved challenges in women’s health.
Strategic Collaborations: poolside and XtalPi
In the space of strategic collaborations, AWS and poolside, a $3 billion AI unicorn, announced a deal to make poolside’s generative AI assistant and foundational models available on Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Elastic Cloud. Compute (EC2). This offering will allow customers to run poolside in their existing AWS environment, leveraging AWS Trainium chips for generative AI model inference.
On the other hand, XtalPi, a leading technology company that combines AI and robotics for the discovery of innovative drugs and materials, has selected AWS as its strategic cloud provider. This collaboration promises to accelerate the discovery of innovative medicines and materials, leveraging AWS’s advanced infrastructure and capabilities.
New Models and Tools: Luma AI and Upstage
Luma AI announced the upcoming release of its Ray 2 video model, which will be available to consumers, professionals, and developers. Additionally, Luma AI will collaborate with AWS to bring its visual AI models to Amazon Bedrock, expanding generative AI capabilities into the visual realm.
Finally, Upstage launched its next-generation Solar Pro large language model (LLM) on AWS, offering new possibilities for developing generative AI applications.
