Banco Sabadell seeks to accelerate the adoption of agentic AI at scale and turn AI into a transversal and sustainable capability for the group, while driving operational efficiency and improving the experience of the seven million customers it serves. For this reason, it has reached an agreement with T-Systems to build a technological and governance base that allows this new generation of AI to scale while maintaining the control, security and flexibility of its architecture.

“This solution allows us to integrate new agentic capabilities into our AI technological platform and accelerate our ability to transform the business to be more productive and have a greater impact on clients and at the same time maintain our independence and optionality compared to AI models on the market,” says Rüdiger Schmidt, CTO of Banco Sabadell.

Strengthen digitalization

The promotion of AI is part of Banco Sabadell’s new strategic priorities to reinforce its digitalization. Within the agreement reached, the entity will use T-Systems’ Agentic AI platform, developed in Europe for European companies with a sovereign approach, to deploy use cases that can be extended to new processes and entities within the banking group while maintaining a homogeneous framework of security, governance and supervision. In this way, Banco Sabadell will be able to accelerate the launch of new AI initiatives without having to build the necessary capabilities for their industrialization from scratch.

“In an economic and financial environment in full transformation, the real leap in artificial intelligence is to convert it into an industrial capacity integrated into the business, capable of operating safely, sustainably and at scale,” say Luis Cedó, Head of Sales Finance, Energy & Retail at T-Systems Iberia, and Oscar Bañó, Account Manager of Banc Sabadell at T-Systems Iberia. “This alliance allows us to accompany Banco Sabadell in this evolution, combining open technology and applying a sovereign approach so that AI is consolidated as a strategic lever of competitiveness, innovation and efficiency, under the control of the bank itself.”

In a context in which financial entities are evolving from pilot projects towards the industrial application of AI in business processes, operations and customer services, one of its pillars is this agreement to preserve the technological autonomy of Banco Sabadell as its AI strategy evolves.

Sovereign approach, open technology and scalability

The platform is designed to govern and control AI agents created with different technologies and models and integrate them with corporate systems, allowing the bank’s business leaders to manage, monitor, optimize and hyperautomate their processes at scale while meeting demanding regulatory requirements.

Furthermore, it is based on an open, modular and interoperable architecture, prepared to operate in different technological environments and select models, components and infrastructures according to performance, cost, security, criticality and compliance criteria. This approach avoids structural dependencies on a single vendor (vendor lock-in) and provides the bank with flexibility to evolve its AI capabilities over the long term and to incorporate sovereign cloud capabilities, strengthening control over data, operations and critical technological assets.

With this alliance, Banco Sabadell and T-Systems lay the foundations to industrialize agentic AI in a secure, open and sovereign way, with an architecture prepared to grow alongside the Group’s needs and contribute to the evolution of the financial sector towards a new generation of intelligent services.
