In a context in which artificial intelligence has been in which all the prominence occupies the first signs of prudence. After the irruption of Chatgpt just over two years ago, all companies began to bet on introducing AI in their productive processes. After this time, ecstasy has left the pause.

Now organizations begin to wonder what a project needs to be developed and what advantages it will provide. This assertion was clear in a meeting with the specialized press in the José Andrés García, Country Manager of Qlik in Iberia realized a study conducted by the company and showing the reality that surrounds the Spanish company around AI.

The study reveals that 86% of those interviewed consider that AI is absolutely essential or very important to achieve strategic objectives or increase benefits. However, despite this recognition that is given to artificial intelligence there are few projects pass from the planning phase to the completion or implementation, and many are discarded. In fact, 37% of Spanish companies have between 11 and 50 AI projects in the definition or planning phase, which are not yet real projects. In the case of companies that have more than 50 projects, 27% have had to stop completely.

The report explains that for organizations to make profitable the investment made in this technology and provide better service to their customers, it is essential that they can develop more AI projects from the planning phase to its implementation. Given the difficulty of bringing them to fruition, many of the respondents (68%) see greater value in the “read-made” solutions.

COMPETENCES, DATA AND REGULATION

The reasons that are negatively impacting the implementation of artificial intelligence in organizations are different. These obstacles have to do with the regulations, the lack of competences and the shortage of talent as well as the quality and quantity of the data. According to the study, the most important pitfalls for companies are those surrounding the normative field (24%), followed by the lack of competencies and skills of the workforce to develop them (23%).

The third leg is the one that refers to the data. 21% of respondents say they do not trust their organization’s data to work and develop projects. In this sense and as José Andrés García said, “the AI is nourished by data and if these are not of the appropriate quality, artificial intelligence does not work. Moreover, if the quality of the data is important, so is the amount of the data available ».

The current reality is that distrust seems to be settling, the result, probably that expectations were too high. In this sense, the study emphasizes that almost a third (32%) of respondents believe that senior managers do not trust this technology, and 50% believe that the rest of the employees do not do it either. Outside the company, almost a quarter (23%) believe that its clients do not trust AI either. And what is more worrying, 63% say that this lack of trust is significantly reducing investment in AI in their company.

Generating trust is essential to advance

Training workers in the development and use of artificial intelligence is another way of generating confidence and ensuring that these projects go beyond planning and successfully implanted.

José Andrés García, Country manager of Qlik in Iberia

At the national level, 55% of those responsible believe that Spain has potential to lead this scope of competencies in the next five years. To achieve this, 76% believe that their industries must improve in the training and recycling of AI skills, and 74% think that the government must provide more financing and training in AI.

“This study shows that companies are knowledgeable about the value of artificial intelligence, but they must face a series of obstacles, which complicates them to make the leap that goes from the concept test to an effective deployment that generates a tangible value. For this, it is essential to have a definite strategy where the short -term objectives are reflected in the short term, as well as the needs and challenges that are presented both at the data and infrastructure level, as well as internal culture. Step by step and forming people we can generate more confidence in AI ”concluded the Country Manager of Qlik in Iberia.
